In Place of a Road Map!
*I tried searching for it but it just brought up a lot of garble.
ETA: I second the above nominations ^^^
Pretty sure this is the most recent version: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/912920-in-place-of-a-road-map-3-2013
It does sorta work counter to the way MFP is designed (i.e. eating at the same level every day vs. eating back exercise calories each day) but it is good information regardless and gives folks who want to keep things very simple a guide for doing so.

in place of a road map & the other tdee one
but. if, in addition to adding the idea to a sticky, you'd just change the default setting from the 'eat back/calories burned' thing to tdee -/+ x % that would really be a lot better & prevent a lot of disordered & doomed attempts at weight loss caused by the confusion around the current setting.0 -
I am not the original Author, I found it online but I feel it should def be a sticky!! I modified it a little bit from the original

Marking for personal reference. Personally like the following posts a lot:
"in place of a roadmap"
"guide to sexypants"
"sustaining motivation"
although just about everything nominated has a lot of merit.0 -
This is a great thread!0 -

Definitely the guide to sexypants - so many newbies are directed to it that it's odd that it hasn't already been pinned.0 -

this post is not technically from the getting started forum, but i think that new people would definitely benefit from reading it, i know that i have read it multiple times:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1193569-cookies-taste-better-than-skinny-feels
it's a great post with several pictures which is especially motivating for those of us who are losing slowly (on purpose) and who love food and want to acknowledge that we can eat it as long as we don't lose sight of our health0 -

How about this one?

I think something similar should be required reading for anyone who signs up for an internet forum!0 -

Disagree... It was an opinion piece that will appeal to people who share that personallity, but could potentially deter others from joining and seeking help.0 -
