Does walking to work count as exercise?

I live in the city and I walk to and from work each day. According to google maps it's a total of 2.4 miles of walking each day. Takes me about 15-20 minutes each way. I'm not sure if I should be logging this. What do you think?

Depends on your settings. Sedentary yes. Lightly active maybe. Active probably not.

As long as it's a brisk pace without too many stops for traffic lights or window shopping I'd count it. I factor my walks to work into my calorie allowance.

    totally counts
  • Agreed. It depends on the setting you chose when setting up your account. I tend not to log "normal" activity that I'd do anyways, just something explicit (jogging, biking, etc).

Yeah, I don't like that categorization but that is probably correct. If you kick up your pace and gt you heart rate up a bit more you might count it.
