I've been using the Polar FT4 for almost a year now ~ like it but wanted something w/o a strap. So I bought the Fitbit Flex. I've heard so many great things about it and I've had it now for almost 2 weeks and am not really liking it. Does anyone out here use it? Likes/dislikes? All I want is to be able to track my distance and calories burned ~ I don't need any of the other features.
Any suggestions?

I like it. I don't know if it's super accurate, but it does let me know in a general way how active I'm being. It's not going to accurately record the calories in weight training, for example. And it recorded an hour of paddling as a leisurely walk. But I fix that by entering the exercise in MFP. Since I'm new (again) at all of this, its most important function is to keep me on track. Sometimes that just means having a black band on my wrist that has a little party when I hit 10,000 steps.0

I've been doing myfitnesspal since December 2013. I've had my fitbit since January 7th, I like the fact that it tracks my sleep and activity. It motivates me to move more and I can track my progress. I go about 5 days between charges. I also like the silent Alarms, my old alarm clock was bothering my wife. It wakes me up with vibration at 5:20 every morning and I have another at 5.45 to remind me I need to be out the door and meet my racketball buddies. I also have one set at 10am and 2am to remind me to drink water and eat a snack. I've lost over 50 pounds since December 5th by boosting my protein to over 64 grams a day and water to 64 ounces at a day. I started a 323 on December 5th and down to 268 this week. Those are the only major changes I've made except making sure I hit my activity goals with fit bit. I'm a network engineer so my job doesn't have me moving a lot. The alarms serve two purposes, I get up to get snacks and water and will normally do a 15 minutes lap around the neighborhood if I have time. I get wrapped up in a project and forget to move or eat sometimes for hours. These basic changes to my life have me feeling and looking better. I'm going to get one for both my kids who have my genes and are prone to gain weight. I'm competitive so tracking against friends and family motivates me. It doesn't give me a lot of movement for racket ball but walking or running seems more accurate. So I've done more walking and running to beat my racketball buddies on fitbit. We motivate each other. Both my buddies and I are losing consistently which is a big change for all of us. I was steadily gaining for 12 years, skipping meals and eating the wrong things. I do premier protein drink for breakfast and eat two high protein snacks a day during the week and take a break with the bars on the weekend but still do the shake for breakfast. Fitness pay and weighing every day helps me stay focused. I enjoy going to the scales every morning now to see how I'm doing. I've gone up and down on weight and can see what foods and exercise work best using the combination of fitbit and myfitness pal. I'm also a geek so I'm on the computer all day. At the end of the day if I haven't hit my fitbit goal I try to before watching TV in the evening. Good luck with your personal goals, get your friends and family to do it to keep you movtived.0
