How many goals have you set and missed?

I find myself looking at calendars where I had my goal weight tracked each week, and finding that I missed it and am exactly where I was at the beginning. I've done this AT LEAST 3 times. Realizing.... I just wasted 3 months, 6 months, and am exactly where I was when i started....

I can't control my weight and when it comes off. I stopped making those goals. Instead I make goals I can control. I will walk or run 100 miles by this day or I will be able to lift this much by that day. I will eat within my calories for the next two weeks without going over. They give me more control. If I do them the weight will come off but I still feel good when my body gets stubborn.

that's awesome. I know that even when the weight wasn't coming off, when i was training for the marathon I felt good. I did my miles that I was supposed to do each week and at least I felt good about that.

    Try to set SMART goals:
    S - Specific
    M - Measurable
    A - Actionable
    R - Realistic
    T - Time bound

So "I will lose 10 pounds in two months" may not be SMART if you've had trouble meeting that goal (maybe not realistic). Instead try for something like "I will accurately record all of my food and exercise for the next four weeks" or "I will walk for at least 30 minutes four days per week in March".

By the way, your time wasn't wasted if you're learning from your mistakes. Chin up!

lprincess1970 that's my challenge. I am type A and I am a perfectionist and when I don't achieve what I want to... I feel discouraged and give up.

This is all pretty much what I was going to say.

Hang in there and take what you've learned over the last few months and keep going. You'll get there.
