Measuring ounces in meat

I don't have a food scale and I tried putting chicken drumsticks in those clear ounces measuring cups but they don't fit. Is the only option to get a food scale? I'm pretty sure what I ate was under a pound and I used googles pounds to ounces converter.

If you're going to guesstimate. 4oz is about the size of your palm. (As long as you dont have giant hands of course!)

If you want to be exact in your diet, then yes, a food scale is the only way.

I take my hat off to you if you could eat a pound of chicken in one sitting. I have to force down 4 ounces. lol.

A food scale is a great investment when you're trying to watch your portions. You can get a good one for around $20.

Also, please remember that measuring cups are for fluid ounces, not ounces by weight.

For drumsticks, I'd probably just find the MFP entry without an asterisk in front of it and add that to my diary. Search by "chicken leg cooked" then choose the appropriate entry according to how it was cooked. The drop-down menu will let you choose the leg as a unit of entry.

I bought a scale for $20 and its the main tool in my kitchen next to the measuring cups and spoons.

I found mine at a Rite Aid. But most stores carry them. And find a good kitchen conversion site or chart. They help. I suck at fractions!

The ounces on your measuring cups only work for fluid ounces. Fluid ounces are different than the unit of ounces for weight. We live in a confusing would where the term ounce is a unit for both volume and weight.
