Make the water taste better

Hey guys,
This question is for my wife. When we go out to eat somewhere, she usually reaches for either Diet Snapple or a Diet Coke. She knows that water is better for her, but she wants to know how she can make it taste better. What would be the best and healthiest choice?
Thanks

Better implies it tastes bad. She's an adult, drink the water.0

Although this isn't very helpful, it's kind of my same answer. If you're going to add "stuff" to it, you may as well stick with the diet drinks. Maybe add a lemon or lime if you're at a restaurant??0 -

Lemon/Lime + sweetner...but then you just have flat diet soda. There's always tea0 -
I load my water with limes, lemons, mint, and/or cucumbers. I'll defiantly drink it without but I just drink more when its loaded w fruits and veggies0

Lemon, lime, cucumbers........0

The more water she drinks the more her body will crave it. So at first she may have to force herself to drink it (the lemon idea is great!). All my kids love water because that is all we had.0

Tea is an awesome choice too. It might take some time to get into it but its worth it0 -
I do not allow myself anything but my morning coffee until I drink all 64 oz of water. Then I have a diet Dr Pepper. You need to drink water it helps with digestion and absorption of nutrients. I also agree with first reply....0

my husband carries a Mio water enhancer ( our water is pretty rancid out here) Its ok if its filtered from the tap if its not blech. I usually put a slice of lime/orange or lemon in a 2qt pitcher at home. Obviously cant do that going out but a Mio bottle fits lovely in a handbag0

I have 2 mason jars in my fridge full of water, one has lemon/lime/orange (about a slice of each) and the other has about 1/4 cup frozen mixed berries. Although I can drink water unflavoured, some days I need a little taste to it for something different. I don't drink soft drink (except for carbonated mineral water in the odd vodka, lime and soda) and I don't drink cordial so this is my little 'treat' I guess you could call it!
At a restaurant I would definitely ask for iced water with a couple slices of lemon.0 -
Barley, hops, yeast ... allow to ferment ... mmmmm, beer.0

I like my water better when it is cold. Very cold....so my answer is ice.0

I often make "juice" for my toddler which is a fruit herbal tea bag in a jug of cold water (mixed berry is usually the go to flavour)
you can do that in a restaurant with just the tea bag in a glass of cold water. It does flavour it and when it gets too strong she can add more water0 -
I drink water all time. No sodas, no iced tea, no coffee. I find that if the water is cold, it tastes better, and our area has really good water, so there is no taste. I also use a Brita water filter pitcher, and I like it. I try not to be too fanatic about the purity of the water, nothing is perfect, and I used to go through all kinds of changes to get "perfect" water. No more. It is okay for me, to each his/her own. Also, I am very sensitive to caffeine, so that makes it easy for me to stay away from it.
But.... I had to wean myself off the diet Cokes, iced tea, coffee, and now I don't seem to have urinary problems... I am glad I only drink water.. Yahoooo Water! (lol)0 -
Our tastes can be adulterated by sugar, and therefore, anything without sugar in it tastes "funny." Fake sugar is still sugar. They are heavily addictive for me.0

This, or else buy better-tasting water. Restaurants generally don't always have the best-tasting water, so order bottled water, or water with lots of ice and a wedge of lemon/slice of cucumber/strawberries.0 -
I like water but I also like soda water with lime juice (and vodka if I am feeling that way). It's actually pretty yummy. Tastes like Sprite but better.0
-
add lemon or frozen berries
or just suck it up and drink the dang nabbit water.0 -
Some restaurants give you tap water. I ain't drinking that.

Pour it into whiskey0

At restaurants, I tend to drink unsweetened iced tea rather than water just for having something with some flavor.0

I don't have a problem drinking water, and I only like mine plain (no ice, lemon, etc.); however, someone I know only drinks her water with fresh fruit in it. When I see her, the first thing I do is look at her water bottle to see which fruit is in there. When I don't see anything floating or sitting at the bottom of the bottle (blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc.), I always ask what's in the bottle. Lemon has always been the answer.
In reality, when it becomes really important enough to her, she'll just start drinking it.0 -
Why is water better for her?0
-
Boil it and put a tea bag in it?
Where I am the tap water is just awful - it's bore water and it's full of minerals - eventually it kills hot water systems, kettles, washing machines - you name it and all the mineral deposits will clog it up - goodness knows what it does to your insides. So yes, I understand that not all water is good and not everybody can have a rainwater tank.
As others have suggested lemon, lime, ice - a good bottled water - or just go for the diet soda.0 -
I drink water, but.....It's hard for me to believe that a pinch or two of crystal light will contaminate the beverage.0
-
cucumber water, lemon/lime combo. raspberries. once you get used to it diet soda just tastes like chemicals. you couldn't pay me to drink one. it's hard to break the addiction but it's possible. just think about how bad they are for you. good luck!0
-
If you're out for a lovely meal together, why can she not have the beverage of her choice?0
-
In general, does she like the water in your area? That is, does she drink water at home? If not, then ask for bottled water or fizzy water.
At restaurants, I almost always ask for lemon or lime to squeeze in my water. You can even ask for extras to add more flavor.0 -

I greatly appreciate your answer and the other member that made a similar comment. I totally understand that drinking water is my best option but I have never been one to be big on drinking water, I'm trying to limit my natural sugars and can't stand the aftertaste of artificial sweeteners, so was very happy to see this thread, I had just made a similar comment on my blog.
As for the folks that made comments along the lines that be an adult just drink your water, I find your comments to be rude since this is a place to help each other and support each other not be mean and belittle people....I am an adult and drink as much water as I can but that doesn't mean it wil be anything I will ever crave and as an adult I can admit that is the way it is for me!0 -
I always ask for extra lemons when we're at a restaurant Two seems to make my water taste perfect. I'll admit to drinking a bit of crystal lite when I'm at home, I use one packet for two water bottles and keep them in the fridge... If I don't I'll just drink coffee/diet energy drinks all day. Not the best habit but at least I stay hydrated!0
