So many of you have been so supportive over the past 7 mths. I feel obligated to update you on my current health issue.
As you may remember my PCP referred me to a foot and ankle specialist for what he thought was a cyst or neuroma.
I went yesterday to the specialist and was told I have a tumor. The bad news is that it is the shape of a kidney bean but larger between my 1st two toes and is growing on the top and bottom of my foot. The Xray wasnt clear enough to show the Dr if the tumor involves tendons or bone structure so I have to have an MRI.
The good news is that the specialist said foot tumors are very rarely malignant. So that puts my mind at ease.
I am upset with this news because it will most definitely decrease/slow my fitness/exercise progress.
I know my PT will be great about focusing on floor work and arms and back but I am so scared of losing what I have worked so hard for! I was so upset yesterday I didnt even ask any questions!!!!! Not a single question!!!!
So......If you all would pray for me I would greatly appreciate it! I am so scared to have "idle" time and fall back into old habits! If anyone else has had a similar situation, please PM me....I would love to hear from you!

Amy, I just prayed for you. This is a bit of a setback but you can handle it and find ways to modify your workout. What about swimming or water walking? What about riding an exercise bike?0

Wishing you all the best! :flowerforyou:0

Remember that weight loss is 90% what you put in your mouth, 10% what you do in the gym-even during recovery, you can handle this I hope all goes well for you!0

Ditto this! Don't be discouraged about not being able to do your workouts. Keep up with your calorie tracking and do what exercise you can, you can still lose as long as you're eating at a calorie deficit, even without exercise. In the words of fitness guru Tony Horton: "Do your best and forget the rest!" We'll be praying for a speedy recovery )0 -
I've found that I can still lose weight without working out. It's harder to do it long term because it's tough to eat at my base calories day in & day out, but it's definitely possible. I like o exercise so I can eat some of my calories back, but it's been good for me to know that I can still lose weight without killing myself at the gym every day.
Best of luck to you!0 -
Sorry to hear that you've had some not so good news I hope that it all turns out for the best in the long run! I can relate to not being able to use your feet/legs and needing to adapt your exercise program. I herniated a disc which trapped nerves and due to waiting lists being so long for surgery have been left with permanent damage to the nerve that controls the muscle reaction in my calf. Basically my right calf doesn't engage, neither does my heel and as a result my ankle and foot is extremely weak and unstable. It has also cause numbness to my lower leg and foot, kind of feels like I've been sitting on my foot and it's gone to sleep, very hard to balance and I can't even raise myself up on tip toe on that side. I've been left with a permanent limp
If it helps I saw a PT who took into consideration my limitations, I am unable to run and jump, and even walking is difficult, so I use the bike and the X-trainer as my feet don't move. I am also able to do a full weights program (modified to ensure my back is not under too much strain) and swimming is also fantastic too. I have found that I have been losing weight quite effectively even with limited cardio and I'm surprised at how much I can do as I thought for so long that I couldn't do anything.0 -
Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement
I am going to look into water aerobics for my recovery. I should have asked so many questions but I was so shocked I didnt ask a single question! I hope recovery time is minimal....I suppose it will depend on the extent of the growth.
I am going to go to my PT early on Monday so we can discuss some "homework" while I am recovering. Its just so scarey!!!
So very thankful to have you all :happy:0 -

Hope you have a speedy recovery! Stay positive! You can do this - you have made progress so far and this is just a bump in the road. You are already planning for your recovery and this is the first step. :flowerforyou:0
