I have been at this over a year and a half and at first I was doing very well.. my motivation has slid and I am wondering what everyone else is doing to keep reinventing themselves with their positive weight loss and wellness goals??

The only thing that works for me is habit. Get up and hit the gym or run - whatever - I have to make myself get started some days. At the 7 minute mark - I'm ready to work hard.
Eating is more tricky. But, weighing/measuring/logging every single thing is what has kept me honest.
My motivation has come and gone too many times to count in the 20 months I've been on MFP. I just keep going anyway.0 -
it has obviously been working for you .. having lost over 100 pounds.. congrats on that wonderful achievement and gift that you gave yourself0

For me it became a habbit because of how much I did it. oncenin a while, like the whole day I'll say I wont do it but end up doing it. The thing that motivated me the most was seeing with my exact body type and measurements become skinny. That also having a fitness blog and looking at before and afters when I feel lazy or really mean but effective fitness quotes.
Do you have workout equipments at home? I turn my treadmill,tv and lights on downstairs so I have to go workout.0 -
I have a high amount of internal motivation and drive to begin with, but sometimes when I need that extra push I look at other people who have been successful with weight loss and think to myself that if they can do it then there's no reason why I can't!0

I do not have fitness equipment at home.. and have not been exercising at all.. that's part of the downfall of this.. I fractured my leg and ankle severely in 2005 and have had pain in my right leg ever since.. but I am going to start off slowly and hope to see some results0

Luckily for you, weight loss is about a calorie deficit. Exercise is great for improving health - but not necessary to lose weight. I would recommend that you could start doing some exercises that use your body weight. One of my favorite sites is NerdFitness.com. I started with their beginner program and now I am lifting heavy. It was awesome. Good luck with whatever you decide.0 -
Motivation is a fleeting moment in time. At best it may keep you going for a couple of weeks. Fortune 500 companies often hire motivational speakers to pump up the sales team. After the conference the employees go back to work excited about making a big impact. A week later they quickly fall back into their old habits.
Self discipline is the mental strength required to form life changing habits. It is doing what needs to be done. If you can maintain self discipline the results will follow. Seeing those results will strengthen your resolve to keep progressing.
Change will happen when you understand the difference between motivation and self discipline.

Any lasting motivation to change your life & eating habits should come from within. An inner desire to feel better physically and mentally everyday.
Just focusing on the benefits of being slimmer is incredibly harmful for the psyche as well as a pretty unreliable motivation.0 -
