Im having a really hard time with my weight loss . I keep telling myself that I can do it , But seem to fail myself . I have no support at all from friends or family , whenever im around them they eat junk food in front of me , or make fun of me . A few times ive lost weight and was very proud of myself but got treated bad by family which lead to me being upset and eating poorly ,Im still a bit new to mfp and would love to just make some positive friends on here , so we can support eachother , sadly i have no one so i consider MFP my family . Ive never written a topic before so i hope i can post this ,

I just joined. My boyfriend is also always eating junk food in front of me. Today was the first day that he said "oh, let's not get chips, It's bad for you". Which was awesome. I need motivational friends. )0

Hello and welcome!! Good luck, you got this!0
-
What do you mean by you were 'treated badly'?
Heck, I am in front of people that eat **** all day long, it doesn't bother me, to each their own.
I am in a bar where folks get too drunk to stand up, that doesn't mean I have to drink, too.
It is what you make of it, if someone wants to give you a hard time, ***** them, do your own thing,
it gets easier.
Feel free to add me, it sounds like we have a little bit in common...0 -
You guys are all awesome!!! Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it. Then #MakeItCount!!!

Remember when you live the change. The world responds.
You are all on the right track! It may not be easy, but it's right... And who wants easy anyways????????
You got this!0 -

-
im adding you, together we can do it.0

If you don't mind I'd like to add you. I feel with more friends (even online friends) we can all make it through our journey's with a positive end result. Never give up fighting, because in the end YOU need to be happy with yourself no matter what others think.
We only get one chance at this crazy ride we call life... we all need to make it the best we can. Good luck! If you need anything, just let me (or anyone here) know.0 -
why do you need their support? why do you let them affect you so much?0

There is nothing easy about losing weight. It is a struggle each and every day. The only thing that works for me is to take it one day at a time. I get out of bed each morning and commit to eating under my calorie goal and exercising at least 30 minutes. If I can do that, whatever else happens that day, the day is a success.
As for dealing with other people and food all around, yes it can be a struggle. I've learned not to make a fuss about what is offered, just to politely refuse. I don't make a comment about dieting or watching what I'm eating. If pressed, I'll say I'm not hungry right now, even if I'd love to stuff my face. Over time, people have stopped offering. Last week my boss stopped in my office to offer me a chocolate covered strawberry. She said she knew I'd refuse, but didn't want me to feel left out. Of course, I'm still working on helping my family see that I'm changing.
The biggest thing on this journey is to keep on trying. Don't give up.0 -
Feel free to add me, but you kinda need to learn to ignore what others are eating around you. It shouldn't make a difference to what YOU'RE eating.0

I wonder if these people who are snarky are jealous that u r doing something for yourself and they r not!!!0
-
I've had a few remarks (what they thought was innocent ) that real hurt. But , in a way I guess I should thank them because every time I am working out or want to over eat , I think of the comment that was made, it really TICKS me off so i work harder!0
-
Maybe they want you to fail as a lot of people dislike a success story in any walk of life, lov to see an ex smoker restart,a slimmer gain weight,if someone fails in life it makes some feel good about there failures,i struggled on 1200 calories a day so upped my allowance till i found an intake im happy with and can stick to yet still lose weight, weight loss is slower,my happy balance is 1600 but took me 4 weeks of adjusting intake on a weekly basis to find this out, losing half pd a week but better than failing and gaining, good luck x0

Having people that are not supportive around you is common. Often it is their way of pushing back because they feel that your positive changes mean they should make changes too and they just are not ready or willing to do that.
Friends and family and food can make it tough, there is always a reason to celebrate with food. every holiday, long weekend, birthday, job promotion, graduation, weekly wing night, Olympic gold medal hockey games (2 of them in one week!) and the list goes on and on. It doesn't help when the people around you are not worried about it like you are, it makes it very difficult.
You are not going to eliminate this stuff altogether just be conscious about the least amount that will make you happy, Be up front about your plans with the people around you, (make sure they know your not asking them to change, but they could be a bit more positive around you). Do not make them eat differently unless they are willing, but be prepared to bring your own food.
anyways, I can be supportive, check out my profile, it tells my story and the type of friend I can be, anyone can feel free to add me0 -
You'll be good. You just have to find what motivated you and keep that as a reminder. My best advise is it to make this change for "You" right now because YOU want to. Dont wait for something to happen to drive your motivation and keep you focused. However I can understand needing/wanting a support system. Should you ever need any advise/tips/jokes definitely feel free to shoot me a message.
Best of Luck to you.........and make sure you Own today and everyday.0 -
I know its hard, but you can't really expect the people around you to make changes just because you are. When I first start losing weight, no one around me was trying and I did not expect them to make any changes for my sake. It probably made things a bit harder, but in a way it didn't because I didn't resent anybody, and I learned to do what I had to do no matter what was going on around me. Beingvon MFP helped because I always had some kind of access to like-minded people.0

You don't need their opinion to loose weight just come here now and then and check out the success stories, it's AMAZING what human will and determination can achieve.
Also feel free to add me.0 -
Hi ladies and gents. I'm new to this...I really need motivation and consistency! I've been struggling with weight loss since I've had my child in 2005. I'll lose weight, then gain, time and time again. My family basically ridicules me all the time! I just want to be healthy for my daughter and myself!!!0

We got your back!0

Hello Fellow Strugglers! I'm on this site again I"m hoping to stick with my daily goal of charting everything i eat. I'm having a hard time losing weight but i think its because i do a lot of bored eating that I don't recognize... My hardest part of the day is 2-5.... If there is anyone out there that feels like friending me, we can cheer each other on0
-
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/user/nopokudi/status Do you lose weight, think your good and eat a lot then gain? Basically sabotage your hard worK? If so, i'm in that cycle too and it sucks... I'll cheer you on!0

ugh bummer!! =((
im glad you are able to find some support on the boards.
imo, is there a way you can distance yourself a bit from your family as they arent being very supportive. this seems to be jeopardizing your physical and mental health..not good.
hang in there i know not easy!0 -
Feel free to add me. Have been here for a short while (almost a year). It's about learning boundaries, but with yourself and with those close to you. Can't let people who don't have your best interests get you off track.0
