Bachelorette Party this weekend - anticipate a binge

This weekend I'll be at a Bachelorette Party with lots of drinking and eating out. I hope I don't go way overboard, but I don't want to be a fun sponge and abstain from everything.

Any advice on how to prepare for a probable binge and, perhaps more importantly, how to recover?

    My advice would be to just plan ahead. As the best man at a friend's wedding, I hosted a bachelor's party where I grilled up patties - They added up REALLY fast!

    What I would advise is to take it easy the next few days. Obviously you shouldn't starve yourself, but each really healthy. This goes for afterwards, too. Also, it's all a state of mind. As long as you're aware that what you're doing is a 1-time thing, instead of going in and thinking "I have no idea what this will do to my body," I believe that's what counts. Essentially, everyone gives themselves cheat days, and as long as it doesn't derail your progress (it shouldn't), you'll be fine! Just continue your normal routine afterwards :]
  • These days, I HAVE to make sure I am really well hydrated ( which I try to do anyway but doesn't always happen ) before I drink, or else hangover central! I usually start the day before with the water and I try to eat all the most nutritious things I can. This advice probably isn't new to you but it's what I do. Also maybe stick to light beers, and a few shots if you want? As far as eating out, I know myself, I'd want to order something healthy but if I am drinking with friends I know I wouldn't! So I think I would probably work out extra that morning, or when I had time. Oh and you should dance a LOT! That will help lol HAVE FUN=)

    Oh and recovery, almost forgot! I usually wake up early after I have been partying and that's when I take some ibuprofen and then I....drink more water, big shock! lol If you don't mind coconut water try that the next day, I feel like it helps me.

    Get a session in a week in advance so you dont get drunk too easily. After that, a nice full English breakfast should help you to recover

    I was at an all inclusive for a week...think about that...

    I don't find I can prep for stuff like this...I eat my calorie allotment everyday sometimes a bit over and I can't starve myself for a day either...to save the calories, and since I use the TDEE method I don't "earn" calories from working out.

    Typically what I do in this type of situation is strive for maintenance and if I am there great, if I go over..oh well it's one day or even just one week...it's not gonna stall my overall progress.

    Recovery...I always drink one cup of water for every drink and I take advil before I go to bed (metabolized in kidney's not liver) and have a huge breakfast in the morning..ie steak, eggs, hashbrowns, coffee and milk.

    It's a weekend. Enjoy yourself and keep going. One weekend isn't going to have any major effect in the long term scheme of things.

    Depends what you mean by "binging." To be honest, I rarely see people who stuff themselves with food or alcohol that enjoy the experience very long, but just momentarily. My suggestion is to enjoy a little bit of everything to the point you still feel good about the next day.

    Thanks for the advice, especially about hydrating beforehand. Hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense. Hopefully I can also make time to get in a good workout Friday morning before we leave.

    I typically have about 3-4 glasses of wine per week, so I think I'll just plan on sipping. There's no way I could handle shots.

    And lots of dancing!

    Well since you're asking this on a Thursday my advice won't be much good to you, but I have a weekend with clients ahead and every day since Monday I have left about a 100-150 cals on the table, so now I have a nice amount "saved up" for the weekend and I won't feel bad about going over. This feel better to me than going over and then compensating and if I go over too much, I don't have too much to deal with after the fact.

    Just enjoy and be good the next week :)
