I have been debating about putting up half-way pictures on here to show everyone my 'during' success. I think once I wear my smoking hot new dress to the Christmas party in a couple of weeks I will ;)

However!

I wanted to celebrate some other successes that have come about becuase of my weight loss, and wanted to see if others have noticed it in themselves too....I'm talking about health here.

Since I was a child I have had trouble breathing through my nose, and tried EVERYTHING to help clear it, including seeing specialists.

34lbs down and lots of exercise later.....I am breathing through my nose!!!

For the last 5 years I have struggled with lower back pain that sometimes cripples me (at 24!!).

34lbs down and I have not had any back twinges in over 3 months. I finally got an appointment with a Physio through the NHS and I told them I didn't need it anymore.

Since I was about 12/13 years old I would get stabbing chest pains at least 3 times a week when under stress/anxious....The doctor told me it was because I was 'fat' all those years ago and I stubbornly thought he was just sizest (and rather cheeky).

34lbs down and I can't remember the last time I felt that pain in my chest. The doctor was right!

So, along with the weight loss, the brand new size 14 trousers (SERIOUSLY HAPPY!!!) and generally feeling happier in my own body - I know that I am healthier.

And THAT is worth resisting that extra piece of cake ;)

OMG... I have found my twin! I am 5'1" and 171 lbs. I have horrible stabbing chest pains and back pains and problems catching my breath (sometimes not all of the time) I often have bone pains radiating throughout my body. I have not been diagnosed with any medical issues though. I guess deep down I have always known it was b/c of my weight.

I look forward to the day when I can say the same as you! Congratulations. That is definately something to look forward to.

Great Job, after reading this I was wondering when the last time I had a weird chest ,Back,Ankle Pain, or had trouble breathing. I guess a little weight loss goes a long way...........

You NSV are so awesome, and make a person not want to look back at the "old" you. The doctor may have been right, to a degree. It could have been an irregular palpatation that you already had, but since you were overweight and your heart had to work harder, it may have been more noticeable and now, it may still be there just silent because your heart doesnt need to work as hard. Just sayin. I had them when I was pregnant both times, because I gained alot of weight both times. I would get chest pains and irregular heart beats. I'm so happy that you are happy with your successes! I can't wait until you post your pictures!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Good to see I'm not the only one noticing a change in general health. It is definitely another positive side of weight loss :)

I figured I would keep everything in this one board rather than create a new one....wanted to post some progress pictures which I guess are pre-MFP, and 'in progress' lol. I still have weight I want to shed...seems that my body is holding on to as much as possible around my legs and butt!

Ok, this picture is me at my highest weight back in 2005. I reckon I was about 250lbs, if not higher?? You couldn't have paid me to stand on a scale!

This is me 'during' back in August, and about an hour after this photo was taken I got engaged! I weighed about 203lbs or so. This is the closest photo I have to being at my start weight on MFP of 213lbs.

And this photo was aken last night at my family's New Year's Eve party. It's me and my brother, and I can't believe the difference I see in myself! It's so encouraging :)

I honestly couldn't have got this far without the support of my other half, my family and most definitely the support of my MFP friends - they motivate me and cheer me on every day!! :D

I must add to your post...about health... i used to be seriously sick at least 3 times a year and take antibiotics - since i started eating all those vegetables and wholegrain bread a year ago, my health totally improved and i have not been sick not even once! Its so amazing, to know how my body changed from inside. I am so happy.

It is amazing how the right food can have such an impact on our bodies. For me it was definitely the exercise that gave my health the boost it needed

You should be VERY pleased! You're also doing a great job in providing inspiration to the rest of us. Congratulations! Loved the pictures!

I think many of us can relate to not wanting a picture taken when we're at our highest weight. Me included! I took all the pictures at Christmas and made absolutely sure there were no pics with me in it. If I were healthy and at a reasonable weight I wouldn't have minded my picture taken. That's just normal in my books.

The flip side of the story is that we shouldn't have to feel badly about how we look no matter what the weight. Not easily done - that's for sure.

I'm looking forward to the day I put up my before/after shots!
