i have to make a couple subs, i dont have any fresh garlic or onion, and no veggie broth, so i'll sub homemade chicken broth, and i dont have any cilantro, and adjust for spicyness, but it sounds GOOD!
i've never made quinoa before.

oh i eat this one. i rarely use any broth when recipes call for it, just water typically. But without the onion, garlic and cilantro, why?0

oh i just have to use diced onion and garlic powder instead. every single time i buy fresh garlic, it starts growing, and i dont like the texture of fresh onion. yes. i'm weird. i own that LOL. the cilantro i dont have any of.0 -
You might like the one I make with chick peas, flat leaf parsley, feta, and sliced grape tomatoes. I toast the chick peas with coriander and smoked paprika and just toss it all together. Quinoa is now one of my favorite foods!0

Here are several recipes:

I usually just have it as a side so I keep it simple. Cook it in low-fat/low-sodium chicken broth and add onions, garlic and whatever dried spices I'm in the mood for.
This recipe intrigues me. I may have to try it.

Garlic freezes great, so do chilis, ginger root, shallots. Just put them whole and unpeeled in sandwich bags in freezer, good for 6 mo easy and no waste. I just use my plane grater on the ginger root and chilis right into pot, no need to thaw, toss garlic cloves in micro for 15-20 sec and they pop right out of their skins. Shallots I just leave on counter for 10 min or just grate them as well
ooh good to know, thanks!0 -
Speaking of quinoa, I tried this recipe last night and it was a huge hit:

It's a veggie burger made with sweet potato with indian tasting spices. It sounds like it would be iffy I know but hubby liked it too (and he is picky although he wont admit it). I didn't brush the burgers with oil like it suggests. I just sprayed the pan with Pam (lazy).0 -
Thanks, I love quinoa and these look good.0
