Are you a blond woman who lives near Hollywood Blvd?

I've been doing C25K for a while now, but it's still really hard for me. I run at a snail's pace, but I finish every run! Yesterday, I decided to go in a different direction out of my apartment in Hollywood. I stupidly didn't think about how HILLY it'd be. At one point I was running uphill, at an incline that felt nearly vertical. This was really rough for me. I'm sure I looked a mess as I tried to jog up to Hollywood Blvd. Just as I thought my lungs were going to try to escape from my chest, a woman probably in her 20s came jogging towards me, with her dog. She was blond, and her face was a bit flushed, like she had just finished a run herself. As she passed me, she yelled "You can do it!" to me.

If you're that woman, I just wanted to say thank you. That really helped me push to the top of the hill! As I kept jogging, I made a promise to myself that if I ever passed a jogger who looked like they were struggling, I'd do the same thing for them.

Sort of an exercise "pay it forward."

You're making me cry. That was so awesome.

No one understand but those of us who are in the game.

I did the same thing for a runner I see on my way to the gym early mornings. She didn't look exhausted or anything but as she passed I felt the urge to shout- GO! GO! You got it!

She turned around and smiled and then kept running. ~tears~

I kind of hope she's on here. When she cheered me on, I didn't have the energy to thank her. I only smiled (but it might have looked like a grimace).

According to my Nike+ app, I ran my fastest mile! THANK YOU RANDOM NEIGHBOR!

I was all "hey, I'm blond! I live near Hollywood!" But then I realized that I was running around UCLA yesterday.

Glad someone inspired you! Keep it up!

I live on the outskirts of London and have had similar experiences. It's because running is hard and anyone who is out there doing it too knows just how hard, and how much it means to have a little encouragement.

Welcome to the exclusive but inclusive club.

Not many people run in my neighborhood, so when I do pass someone I give the smile/headnod combo. But I've decided from here on out if we pass each other on the same side of the road I'm totally going for the high five.

Aww! That made me smile. It's amazing how just a little encouragement can really make such a difference. I'm not that girl, but I say good for her for being positive and good for you for pushing yourself to you best mile! :flowerforyou:

I love experiences like this. Thanks for sharing (and well done on the run!).

And bumping again so it's visible near dinner hours out west. At least dinner hours for the early eaters.
