Feedback Needed - Insulin Pumps/Sensors

I've been putting off an insulin pump for a while but, after speaking with my doctor and diabetic team, it has become clear that I cannot wait any longer. I've been knee deep in doctor visits and research since coming to the conclusion that this can no longer wait. However, while talking to doctors, specialists, and sales reps is a wonderful source of info, I could really use feedback from someone, anyone, who has experienced this, has their own feedback (positive and negative), and could provide insight. Basically, I need to hear from someone who has been there, done that, and bought the post card. If you have any experience, opinions or feedback on insulin pumps/sensors, please reply to this post. I'm really focused on the Medtronic 530g and the One Touch Ping w/separate DexCom sensor. I do have a front runner, but again, feel like in order to make a fully educated decision, I need to hear from folks who have been there. Thanks in advance for your comments!

Hi! I've had an insulin pump (accu-check combo) for almost 2 years now.

Absolutely best decision I've ever made - my HBA1C is down to 6.1% (in Australian measurements!) and it has given me lots more freedom in eating (the reason why I am now at myfitnesspal ;))

Unfortunately, I sometimes get problems with the pump site which will send my blood sugar soaring but I am able to deal with it at home. I am still trying to figure out how to use temporary insulin rates for exercise but I manage OK.

Can't give too much info on sensors because I haven't had one before :)

    Hope that helps

Edited to add: When I first went on the pump it was a few months until all of my sugars were in to line - I was daily going up to 15+ (270) and then crashing to a hypo. So don't get discouraged if your control is a little worse before it gets better.
