Why oh why does it take so long to get abdominal definition?

To get abs you need very low levels of body fat, 5-6% men,10-12% women (pretty much "essential fat", the lowest amount your body needs in order to still function healthfully), pump lots of iron and cardio, and eat real healthy.0

I'm eating rely healthy working out a lot. Struggling a bit to get the balance because my weight is starting to be on the low side everything's going well legs, chest, back, arms but the abs the abs are not playing fair... Destined to have no core definition forever I think

what does eating really healthy mean? are you under your calories, over, you say you have low weight, your body may be in starvation mode where it holds on to everything. your body gets used to whatever you are doing and seeks a static state. if you dont make changes and modifications here and there, the body is an expert at adjusting.0

Well before I was eating about 1400 calories a day. No junk apart from the occodaional latte/mocha on a coffee date with friends. But I've recently upped my calories because I was losing too much weight. So now I'm eating about 1800 as regular small meals. I'm keeping it pretty simple tbh so my entire diet is pretty much eggs/bacon medallions/turkey/chicken/fish/quinoa/wholemealbread/sweet potato/green veg.
I usually have a protein shake on most days too. Drink wise is mostly water or green tea and the occasional coffee
I know it takes time to see results and to be patient just feeling the need to moan today lol0 -
diet looks fine. throw in a cheat day so you body does not get static. keep your protein high. what is your workout?0

Couple of comments. Abs are almost 100% diet. Sure, you can work them (Not every day) but ultimately it's a function of your BF %. Secondly, you are more likely to see this when you lifting heavy, or whenyou are doing sprints. A compbination of heavy lifting (that's for you to determine) and diet should put you on the right road. But also watch your macros, becuase you want to be maintaining your muscle mass as you reduce your fat...It's a slow process, so don't be discouraged/0

Okay ill try adding a cheat day thanks.. Im now running approx 5k 3 times a week (I really don't want to ditch this because want to do a run in the summer) .. On the day I don't run I do 5 mins stepper or cross trainer ... all of this is before some form of weight training. I do legs on one day, back and shoulders, chest and arms, and abs. I also do a synergy core class which is just a core workout thing. On the other two days I'm resting0

I did used to cut my calories and do HIIT but just found that I was losing too much weight and don't want to lose anymore just want to get a bit of better ab definition.0

you have allot of exercise, i can see how you were losing weight. so correct me where wrong.
Run - 5k @ 3 times/week
Weights - 2 times/week
Core class - 1 time/week
Rest - 2 days
If thats right, after your run in the summer maybe try dropping the running to 1 day/week, increase the weight training to 4/week, go heavy as previously posted and see if you dont see some physical changes in the direction you are seeking. my thoughts for what they are worth... good luck...0 -
I'm totally with you! As much as I try, they just don't seem to want to show through. Don't give up though...keep on pushing through those workouts.0

Its an ongoing battle feeling better today! Apart from some guy in the gym stating that the weights area was for males. Has if its not intimidating enough doing weights haha.0
