Hi All,

I'm in the midst of planning my first trip to Mexico in August and you know what that means... Bikini!!!

My problem areas (in most problematic order) are: 1) Butt and thighs 2) Belly & Hips 3) Upper Arms

I am simply not even close to bikini ready at this time... Please share your favorite exercises, videos, etc. for these areas!

I appreciate your help! :)

Do you need toning or losing weight?

My favorite way to slim down and gain muscle is to use Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred DVD. It's great for upcoming trips and helps all-over. If you haven't tried it, take before and after pictures. There are a lot of people on here who have posted pics and some people's results are just phenomenal. Good luck and enjoy that trip!!! :-D

there is no such thing as "toning"

Anyway, OP….my suggestion is to eat at a slight calorie deficit and start lifting some heavy free weights in the weight room. Check out Nia Shanks on FB or her website called Lift Like a Girl. She has a fantastic beginner program.

Just get to Mexico now and drink the water. The weight will come off faster than you think.

Really, it's just about reducing your calories (not extremely), doing so strength training and taking the trip.

  • I've been working out, eating alot less breads/pastas and carbs in general (cutting down eating out and alcohol are huge too!) for about two months now and lost 15lbs. Def a calorie deficit helps, but my fiancé and I do at least 30min cardio 6x a week and add in weight training for arms/legs. I like the Fitsugar (popsugar) workout videos on YouTube! They are super energetic, and in 10min 4x a week (thats my arm workout routine) you can sculp areas! For a good overall workout in 40 min I reccomend the Spartan workouts on YouTube. Great circuit training with weights. And works everything. Hope this helps!

Swimming is an excellent all over toner, also cutting back on the bread and gluten helps to stop that bloated look. Good luck

    Thanks, All!

I've lost almost 17 pounds since October, and while I do see a change, these trouble spots have always been really tough for me. I've been "thick in the middle" even when I was 18 and weighed 119 pounds, and even then I wouldn't wear a bikini.

I don't mind some junk in my trunk, but I'd really like to get less lumpy and bumpy in the these next 5 months if you know what I mean! Toning and weight loss are therefore both important.

I do have some Jillian Michaels DVD's somewhere, maybe I'll find them and dust them off! I do hear good things about them!

Thanks you ALL for the tips, I'll take all the help I can get and I am taking notes!
