Spaghetti Sauce

I was having dinner tonight and had a hard time getting myself to put spaghetti sauce on my spaghetti and considered just putting olive oil, pepper & garlic salt on it as a substitute but wasn't sure how it would taste. Do any of you have any alternatives to high calorie sauces?

    Tomato sauce is really low calorie. A lot of the calories in the store bought stuff are from all the added sugar, but you can leave out sugar entirely or just use a small amount if you make it from scratch.

    Puree some fresh tomatoes or canned no salt added diced tomatoes, or mix up some fresh diced tomatoes with tomato paste, then simmer with garlic, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, onion powder or diced onions for a minimum of 20 minutes or so, or until it's the desired consistency.

    I love spaghetti with just some olive oil, shredded Parmesan cheese, and a sprinkle of dried parsley or italian herbs

    Olive oil would probably be higher calorie than just a smaller amount of tomato sauce. That being said, I love olive oil and garlic spaghetti.

    Do you like zucchini? I usually use a vegetable peeler on it and use that instead of pasta. Way less calories and carbs.

    I agree with Kickery. Instead of going for the store-bought stuff, you can use a can of diced tomatoes, onions, and seasonings. Just let it simmer and that should help thicken the sauce a bit.
