Logging foods before you eat them

Does anyone else do this? I plan out what I'm going to eat for the entire day and then I can eat that and know I'll be under my calorie goal. I also log my exercise. Seriously though, am I the only one?

I prelog during the week and sometimes on the weekends. I don't log my exercise since I'm on the TDEE-20% method, so I eat the same amount of calories with or without exercise.0

I thought I was the only one who does that! It really does help, even if it's just to decide which snacks to have in between meals. I can choose the one that doesn't put me over my limits on anything.0

You are not alone. I cook for the week on weekends and sometimes end up logging all of my meals for the week before it even starts. I find that it helps me stay on track. The only thing I usually don't log too early is my snacks. I normally do that the day before or the morning of because I don't know what I'll be feeling for the day0

I do this, I like playing around with the figures and finding ways to fit in treats into my day. I sometimes end up changing my mind, but I always have a rough idea of what my day is going to be like.0

I do the same thing on a work week. I should probably do it on my 3 days off too. I seem to eat more when I don't.0
-
I do this most mornings so I can plan my day - sometimes have to adjust the portion once I have actually weighed something but it really helps.0

I do it, and it really helps me stay in control. At the end of the day I may add or subtract a few small things. I think it is good to plan and be organized.0

I do not pre-log my exercise, but I usually know what I intend to do (and I follow the TDEE method anyway, so my calorie goal is set based on exercise; therefore I don't eat exercise calories).
I pre-logged my food 95% of the time while I was losing weight, and now I pre-log most every weekday. Sometimes I log an entire week on Sunday afternoon. I know what is on the food schedule and I find it MUCH easier to stick to. Super easy to say no to a donut at work when I know what my meals and snacks are, they're already packed, and there just isn't calorie space for the donut.
I consider pre-logging to be one of the "secrets" of my success, actually.0 -
Every day! Even now on maintenance. I always log my dinner as I log my breakfast, then I add any treats I might want , (popcorn and ice cream with dh after kids go to bed) then see what I have to work with for lunch and snacks during the day. This way I don't get surprised at the end of day day and wonder what happened.0

I do! Sometimes I even log a day in advance! It keeps me accountable.0

I prelog all of my main meals. Then, fill in my snacks where my macros are lacking.
It definitely helps me keep on track.0 -
I used to prelog my meals for each day when I first started on here, it was very helpful. Now after logging for 10 months I have an idea of the amount of calories in most meals so I can estimate a plan for the day that still leaves me some calories tpo play with for the evening.0

I am actually trying this tactic for the first time this week.0

Absolutely! I am a planner, helps me with grocery shopping too.0

I pre-log my meals and add snacks as needed. sometimes i snack sometimes i don't.
I usually do not log exercise until i do it.
Do whatever works for you.0 -
I just started doing that around 5 days ago. I've noticed a good change my food consumption. I'm not constantly thinking about what I am going to eat or have, as it is already planned out. Helped cut down on snacking as I would feel bad having to add it, since I don't want to have to change my log for anything except for adding exercise.0

I pre-log during the work week most of the time. I have preplanned my meals, I might as well add them up and make sure I am on track, it also keeps me from going crazy and eating too much. I don't pre-log exercis, I have a fitbit and it automatically adds in available calories.0
-
I prelog my breakfast and lunch during the week because I make them at home and eat at work.
Sometimes I guesstimate meals so I have a rough idea of my intake and change it when I actually weigh and eat it.
Most days I weigh, write it on a note pad and log when watching the tv at night.
It really depends on my mood or how busy I am.0 -
Of course not. I log in everything way before I eat it. Sometimes a day before I eat it.0
-
I pre log the whole week. Weekends I log as I know where we are eating at.0
-
You're not the only one. It's the best way for me to stay on track.0

I often prelog, but not always exercise. Sometimes I'll be more motivated and do better. Generally my major meals I've got prepped in advance so breakfast/lunch/dinner are often prelogged, but snacks vary. Sometimes I'm just not as hungry, or I've burned more calories and have a couple extra snacks.
I think I actually prelogged more often earlier when I was much stricter, now I'm closer to maintenance mode and exercising a whole lot so I'm a little more relaxed.0 -
before i eat it, yes, but not way ahead of time or even for the day. like the other day, i had enough calories left to either have: a double hamburger, ice cream, a beer, or second helping of french fries. i sat here and played with the log till i decided. (ended up with a single burger with no cheese and a wine cooler)
but always before i eat it. i can take it out of the log if i change my mind or eat less or more, but not out of my stomach.0 -
I do it, just for the day though. Mostly because I don't want to forget to do it and I know what I'm eating for the day so why not......
Water I log as I drink it though.0 -
I always log it before I eat it. Always.0

guilty as charged! I usually think in the evening about what I want to eat tomorrow. And than I know how much room there will be for sweets :-D0

I love pre-logging my food! It makes me feel so much more relaxed about my intake because I know what I'll have already, and I'm not always concerned about what my next meal will be. It really helps me.
I don't usually pre-log exercise.
See, for some reason in my mind, when I pre-log my food it feels like I've eaten it. Therefore, when it comes time to actually eat the food, it's like hey wow, food!! And it feels like a bonus or something. Lol.
Unfortunately it works both ways - when I pre-log exercise it feels like I've done that exercise already and so when I go to actually DO it, it kinda feels like a drag because I've logged it already and I don't even get true satisfaction of logging it in after I'm done. It almost feels like I'm doing it twice.0 -
I will from time to time, log a meal before I eat to see how good/bad it is, It helps me decide if it is something I really want to eat. or if i know i am having a set item on a given day, I will put it in so i dont eat to much before that and have to change my plan. ie if I am going out to dinner with friends.. Helps me alot....If i pre put in exercise it is to motivate me to do atleast that amount. usually with in a very few minutes of entering exercise my MFP friends are comenting on it so I really cant change it after you get a bunch of likes or good job coments.. Good luck0

i always pre log breakfast and lunch. Then I add all the snacks that i have, but then adjust when I get home. I kind of like choosing my dinner as I go. I buy everything on the week end for the week, then I know what I have available to choose from.0
-
I log all meals before hand, and add to them or reduce things if I need to. Exercise I will log only if I know for sure I will be doing it that day.0
