My mom recently bough this book and is giving it a try.

All diets are rubbish. Dont listen any of it. Take it back to the shop and get a refund.

Then... eat whatever you like and as long as you have a calorie deficit you will be fine...

Maybe I wasn't clear. It's not for me. My mom bought it for herself.

Was curious if anyone had opinions on the actual book

I read it and liked it. I thought it was well written and made a lot of sense. I did it for 28 days and did feel better, more energy, etc. Not something I'd do long term but I think the concepts taught should be part of your healthy life style - i.e. eating more clean, healthy fats, no processed foods, etc. I'm not a doctor or expert by any means but I found her reasoning for why certain things should be avoided to be perfectly logically. There is also an app that goes with the diet that makes it very easy to follow - and if you like more structure, you might enjoy having the plan right on your phone. I would respectfully disagree with the idea that you can eat anything you want and be fine notion- if you don't eat properly you aren't getting required nutrients, will have difficulty increasing muscle mass, etc. The book explains what nutrients are needed and what their function is - interesting at least. Short answer, read it and decide for yourself if you want to incorporate any of her ideas into your healthy living lifestyle.

    Thanks!

I don't think she's using g for as much long term as she is trying to lose weight before my wedding in November

I was not familiar with the book prior to reading this post but I found this article.

It seems the "diet" has sound concepts that I use in my own life - few refined sugars and organic. That is a good thing

Personally, it does look like a lot of water to drink up. :grumble: I would be in the bathroom a bunch and may begin to resent drinking it. I have also never been a good candidate for phase diets where there are certain weeks I can't eat foods either. I am not happy when I am told I can't have something. It makes me want it more and that doesn't help.

I have looked up a couple of personal reviews too and "It doesn't even feel like I am dieting" seems to be a common theme. That is a good thing too. Finding a eating plan that fits into your life and is easy to maintain is crucial. I am unaware of how food combinations affect weight loss or stir up the speed of your metabolism so I am leary of that. The foundation of weight loss still remains the same - calorie deficit and exercise.

Most "diets" focus on the short term and afterwards most folks go right back to unheatlhy eating.
With that in mind, if you feel like you could learn something for the long-term with this diet. Then, learn from it!

@suncluster - good point about the water. I had to get 80% in by 1:00 p.m. or it was a bad night. LOL.
