This is a rerun for me. What can I say, old habits bring old results. Live and learn. Good news is, I'll never give up. I was a success story for a weight loss plan but have gained the weight back. I need a few peeps to be accountable with on a daily basis. I'm a great motivator. Care to join me?

Over the last 20 months on MFP, I have learned that I have to be accountable to myself. I have awesome friends, but I have to do the work myself.
I would like to add that sustainability of a weight loss plan is important. The key? Learn moderation. Eat the foods you enjoy, but learn to meet your calorie deficit and macros. Simple concept - hard work.0 -
I agree 100 percent! But I stay motivated on the journey having a few cheerleaders by my side. I also get great motivation from seeing others succeed as well. Thanks for your advice!0

If you want someone that will look at your diary and give you feedback instead of just saying "GREAT WORK!" every day then I might be a good friend for you. Be warned though, I don't support under-eaters. If you're on board with the MFP way to lose weight then there's one more reason to friend me.0

Dang J&B. If I make it to 71 I just want someone to poke me and say "Hey. You breathing today?" Mad props to you for your enthusiasm. May we all be so inclined to exercise in our 70's.0 -
I also need serious accountability. I have been trying to loose weight for last 10 years now, and for last 10 years I have been eating loads or chocolate every day. About 2 months back, I lost 10lbs with a good eating regime, but have gained it all back. I really want someone to look at my diary and slap me in the face saying - what the hell are you doing, what is wrong with you, wake up!0

Hiker I completely understand. If I could just control my sugar addiction I have. Usually if I can make it a week without eating it, I can break it. Hey let your scale movement be your motivation. Reward yourself with goals met. This may sound crazy, but I got this great idea off Pinterest.. I've got this glass jar that I'm going to fill with stones to keep up with my weight loss. Just a visual that I'm putting in my kitchen where the food is. For every 10lbs I lose, I'm going to put a glass stone in my jar. I bought some at the dollar store yesterday. You know the kind like you put in a fish bowl. Anyway, hopefully every time I go in the kitchen and see that darn jar, I'll think twice about what I eat!0

Totally need accountability friends. I'm almost 1/2 way to goal and 1/2 way is where I tend to lose it and gain back, done that for 7 years and this time I need to go all the way! Friend me!0

I have no reason to dislike you, so please don't take this as being mean, but maybe that's why you keep failing to sustain your weight loss. You are relying on others to motivate you, which is fine in a pinch, but your real motivation needs to come from within. Only then will you develop the self discipline to push away the extra plate of cookies/ pasta/ chips etc. Only then will you find the discipline to get up and go to the gym/ run/ cycle/ etc. even when you don't feel like it. Motivation can get the ball rolling, but discipline will keep it moving.
Look at it this way: If you always rely on crutches to get around you will never learn to walk on your own two feet. :flowerforyou:

I think it's a good combination of self discipline and some weight loss buddies. Most people who are losing weight have been around the block before, depending on your age. You pick up good ideas and tips along the way and it's always good to share the wealth. I'm a social person by nature. I can definitely do it by myself, but I enjoy the journey and learn more with a little help from my friends. That's my two cents!0

I agree completely. My friends are motivational, inspirational, informative, and entertaining. I am glad that I have them. But when I think of accountability I think of who I have to answer to at the end of the day. To me it's very easy to ignore the phone when my friend calls or not log on to MFP and see my friends on here. In fact I can avoid, lie, or make excuses to everyone I choose to. Except myself. Because no matter how hard I try I will always see myself when I look in the mirror, I will always know when I am lying or making excuses. There is no shady accounting. At the end of the day the ledger will always reflect what was spent and what was gained.0 -
