Do calories matter??

Does it matter what calories you eat??? I know if you eat healthy it will you fuller for longer, but if you eat 1200cals for eg no matter what calories should you still lose weight?
Long story short I'm poorly and can't cook etc.. So I'm hooked on warburton thins, I stick within my limit so I should lose??? X

Yep, calories in vs out. If you eat at a deficit, no matter what you eat, you will lose. That being said, it would be better for longevity to try and find some nutritionally dense foods, too. Canned tuna, bananas, try and look for local deals going on, on fresh veggies to squeeze in too. For health, you should still be mindful of what you eat, but you don't have to eat just that.

Yes you will lose on 1200 calories.

You would lose on more than that too...with 29lbs to go your weekly weight loss goal should be about 1-1/2lb a week.

The unfortunate part of eating 1200 calorie regardless of what food it is you lose muscle along with fat...but at 1500 with adequate protien and a good resistence training program you wouldn't.

Your goal should be to find the maximum number of calories at which you lose weight, not the minimum. It can be difficult to feed your body properly on 1,200 calories: protein, fat, fiber, calcium, iron, vitamins, minerals, etc.

This is a great link. To answer your question, yes, you will lose. But you lose a lot more than fat when not fueling your body correctly for YOU.

Yes you'll still lose but it doesn't mean you'll not end up affecting your health in other ways because you aren't getting sufficient quantities of the correct nutrients. If you're ill that's even more important. Also in all likelihood you should be able to eat more than 1200

Also, the less nutrient dense foods you eat the hungrier you will be. If you eat 1200 'empty' calories you will be much hungrier than if you eat 1200 calories filled with healthy protein, fats, fiber and complex carbohydrates.

Protein powder can actually be a relatively inexpensive way to increase your protein intake for not a lot of calories. I'm aiming for over 120g of protein per day, and I'd never meet it without protein powder. I just couldn't eat that much chicken.

Yup, you can lose. But I personally don't find poptarts and twinkies satisfying.

For long term adherence, and for satiety, Volume of food per calorie is very important. This is where your veggies and lean protein come in.

For example, a half of a bag of frozen veggies is usually roughly 60-80 calories. 1 of the lindt chocolate ball things is 60 or 70 cals.

What do you cook for your girls/family?

Things like tuna (cheap) and can easily be made into tuna patties or casseroles for a more nutritional food. Or eggs, pastas etc are all cheap, filling and great nutrients. Variety often makes you successful while nourished. A low cal diet of whatever sort will cause wt loss, but u so don't want to lose good body mass (ie muscle) along with it BECAUSE of poor nutrition.
