Subway question

I'm going out tomorrow and I won't be able to have my usual lunch so I've checked out the Subway website at their nutritional info. A 6" turkey & ham on 9 grain with veggies is 280 cal. If I bought a footling, added some extra veggies and light mayo, does 700 cal sound about right? I doubled it, and added about 50 cal for a bit more salad and then the rest for the mayo.

Note that doesn't include the cheese, if you're adding cheese (and I know I always enjoy that). Watch how much mayo they add to your sandwich. Even their "light" mayo is at least 50 cals per tablespoon, and they like to go hog-wild on the mayo some days.
On the Canadian site, you can actually go in and calculate the actual (click on the sandwich name) and it allows you to change it to Footlong.
You might be better off to just double the meat on a 6 inch - helps keep you filled up, but doesn't bounce up your carb intake (just my opinion).0 -
This might help

Not sure how updated it is though.0 -
Doubling it would be fine to count calories for the meat and cheese. The calories from the veggies will be negligible, so I wouldn't worry about that. However, they tend to put a ton of condiments on, so it will be hard to estimate the calories in the mayo - even if you get light. I would ask for mayo on the side so you know how much you are getting.0

This. I sometimes even take it a step further, especially with the mayo, and just ask for the packets of light mayo- i think they are 35 calories per packet. Otherwise, I'll get it on the side.0 -

This is funny because one time (the last time) I went to Subway, I almost had an altercation over the double meat thing. I did quick math (hey, I'm an analyst) and it was cheaper to buy a $5 footlong and ask them to put everything on half the bread (I told them giving me the bread was a waste and they could feed ducks with it for all I cared), rather than pay for extra meat on a 6" sub. The register monkey had to call the manager for permission and they subsequently refused to accommodate my simple request, insisting I was essentially modifying a 6" sub and that's what I had to pay for. Argument ensued (there was a patient girl behind me who said it was a great idea and agreed with me). Screw Subway.0 -

The Subway I go to has mayo/light mayo packs sitting out near the drink machine. It's a good way to know exactly how much mayo you're getting. Not sure if all Subways have them. If you don't see them out it might be worth asking.0 -

This is available on the American site, too, you just need to know where to find it. It's not the most easily accessible thing. And why use someone elses "it might be right" data, when you can at least get the data directly from Subway (allowable inaccuracies per the FDA not withstanding)?
1. Start here: http://www.subway.com/nutrition/nutritionlist.aspx
2. Click on the sammich you're planning to gleefully consume.
3. After it's done showing you food porn in animated gif format, look at the right side of the page, find the "CALCULATE YOURS" button. Click on that, it will pull up the java window where you can pick and choose what you've put on it.
4. Know thy enemy and consume with passion.0 -
Check out http://www.nutritionix.com/subway/nutrition-calculator - I use it all the time to calculate the nutrition info for my Subway sandwiches. They also have a lot of other restaurant chains, and if you don't find the one you're looking for, you can vote for them to include it.0

Just FYI the calories will be okay but the sodium in their sandwiches is through the roof! I had that shock when I ordered a 6" Turkey without cheese0

i've gone on the subway site and was able to build a sandwich and it showed me the calories including meat, cheese, veges etc. i eat the same sandwich everytime so i haven't been on it for awhile so i can't remember exactly what it's called.
