"Instead, I committed to choices that simply wouldn't support 308.5 pounds. My life doesn't have room for that weight anymore. It can’t hold me back. There are adventures to be had."
I love everything about this post but this is my favourite part. Losing weight and working out are major commitments but they also set us free to live life to the fullest and on our terms.0 -
You looked fly next to Kerry Washington, regardless of your weight!
So super inspiring and wonderful to see. Thank you for sharing!

Shannon - you really are THE poster girl for the healthy MFP lifestyle - you really have it nailed - eating real food - living a real life - and kicking butt with all your outdoor activities.
I always love seeing your posts - you keep it so real - the many ups and the occasional downs we all go through....
Just LOVE that outfit in the selfie you posted today :-)0 -

Thanks for the inspiration ... It's so amazing that i always thought 40 pounds is too much to lose and i will never be able to do it ... Looking at people like you and several others who lose 100+ pounds i realize my task is much easier ... I need to just stop obsessing about my weight ... make the right choices .. be active and live my life .... Thanks again ... You give me hope ...0

Thanks so much for sharing. Sometimes I think 175 is not possible at 5'11" but your story literally shows me it is.

You look amazing. I need to get in the mind set that this is a life time change for my health and well being and not a quick fix.
Thank you for the much needed inspiration.0 -
But, though I ate well most of the time, I ate too much, and too often mindlessly. I didn't move nearly as much as one should. And this limited my enjoyment of my life.
I couldn't go biking with my husband more than a couple miles without wanting to give up.
I didn't want to go swimming at the beach because I couldn't stand being in a bathing suit.
I didn't like going out in the summer because I didn't feel comfortable in skirts and a tank top.
This was exactly how I felt seven months ago before starting MFP! Thanks for your story!0 -
This:
I couldn't go biking with my husband more than a couple miles without wanting to give up.
I didn't want to go swimming at the beach because I couldn't stand being in a bathing suit.
I didn't like going out in the summer because I didn't feel comfortable in skirts and a tank top.
I wasn't advancing in my career because I lacked the confidence to strive ahead.
I declined invitations to visit old friends because I didn't want them to see how big I’d gotten.
I avoided the camera, resulting in woefully few pictures of me with my son during his first years.
Made me tear up. I'm facing these fears as we speak. Your journey is really amazing. Thanks so much for sharing. It hit me to the core.0
