The topic below got me thinking so what is your theme song for life?
You know the one that always gets you going. That's lyrics speak to you. That you blast at the gym or cheer yourself up with on a rough day!

Mine hands down is the Moto Blanco remix of Mary J Blige's "Just Fine"

Awesome happy dancey track with amazing lyrics - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvHmNPSSMTE&feature=fvw

When i work out with my sister she will break in the black eyed peas song, "up in the gym, just a working on me fitness, whooo eeee" or however it goes so whenever I need a jolt or pick me up I'll say that too. For some reason it reminds me of a firm, fit butt ... lol, I know. But hey whatever works right !!

For my life it is and has been since the first time I heard it - The Games, HATE IT OR LEAVE IT. It came out either right before or during the time I was in law school but I would in all seriousness play that song as I turned onto the road that the school was on.
(I really felt like the underdog there. I was older, a single mom, and just didn't have the money that I felt other's did. but I also knew that I was given a great opportunity and I had to give it my all).

That song is about someone growing up in the ghetto, bike getting stolen, etc but then they make it and they go back with Jacob's (jewelry) on, Benz's and 30 million dollar planes, and are just living large.

The lyrics, "Hate it or leave it the underdog's on top and I'm gonna shine homie until my heart stops, Go ahead and envy me cause I'm raps MVP and I ain't going no where, so you can get to know me. " Just fired me up and was my "I'm here and you better recognize" anthem.

And it worked. I'm not boasting or bragging or being conceited but my grades were some of the best there. Staying at the top of my class frequently, hovering near the top always. So where they measured success with monetary things I measured my success with grades.

It will alway be a song that is an anthem for my life regardless of the situation because it is was the driving force me getting through the hardest thing I had done in my life to that point. So now as I work and exercise and push it, I can listen to that song and get just as fired up as I did in preparing to walk through those doors.

And it doesn't hurt that 50 cent and the whole group on that video are just ripped and a great motivator to workout too.

Thank you for the post and for helping me to remember the fire that I have burning in me.

I have one for just about every mood. I consider my moods separate TV shows in their own right (although some of them wouldn't score a terribly high rating with a National audience...)

Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger ... Amongst the 11 million other awesome tracks that are part of my daily life.

    Move Along by All-American Rejects

When all you've got to keep is strong
    Move along
    Move along
    Like I know you do

And even when your hope is gone
    Move along
    Move along
    Just to make it through.

This was me 25 years ago:

Ride on -- AC / DC

    It's another lonely evening
    And another lonely town
But I ain't too young to worry
And I ain't too old to cry
When a woman gets me down
    Got another empty bottle
    And another empty bed
Ain't too young to admit it
And I'm not too old to lie
    I'm just another empty head
    That's why I'm lonely
    I'm so lonely
But I know what I'm gonna do -
    I'm gonna ride on
    Ride on
Ride on, standing on the edge of the road
Ride on, thumb in the air
Ride on, one of these days I'm gonna
Ride on, change my evil ways
Till then I'll just keep riding on
    Broke another promise
    And I broke another heart
But I ain't too young to realize
That I ain't too old to try
Try to get back to the start
And it's another red light nightmare
    Another red light street
And I ain't too old to hurry
Cause I ain't too old to die
But I sure am hard to beat
    But I'm lonely
    Lord I'm lonely
What am I gonna do -
    Ride on
Ride on, got myself a one-way ticket
    Ride on
Ride on, going the wrong way
Ride on, gonna change my evil ways
Ride on, one of these days
    One of these days
    Ride on
    Ride on
    I'm gonna ride on
Ride on, looking for a truck
    Ride on
    Ride on, keep on riding
Riding on and on and on and on
Gonna have myself a good time
    Ohhh yeah
    Ride ride ride
    One of these days
    One of these days...

    This is me now:

    Wonderful Tonight -- Eric Clapton

It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.

It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD THREAD! Music = win.

This is also a super hard choice.

On my lower self esteem days, perhaps "Bad Body Double" by Imogen Heap.
    She pops into the bathroom
    Just after a shower and
She plays with my makeup and creams
Keeps trying to look like me

    And goes through the motions
    Posing this way and that,
    Holding it in,
If it makes you feel better, then knock yourself out

Say hi there to my bad body double...

    OR:

On my good self esteem days, definitely Extraordinary by Liz Phair.

I am extraordinary, if you'd ever get to know me
I am extraordinary, I am just your ordinary

When I'm feeling inspirational, it's Shine by Anna Nalick:

Oh the night makes you a star
And it holds you cold in its arms
You’re the one to whom nobody verses I love you
    Unless you say it first
So you lie there holding your breath
And its strange how soon you forget
    That you’re like stars
They only show up when it’s dark
Cause they don’t know their worth

And I think you need to stop following misery’s lead
Shine away shine away shine away
Isn’t it time you got over how fragile you are
    We’re all waiting
    Waiting on your supernova
    Cause that’s who you are
And you’ve only begun to shine

When I'm trying to get pumped by blasting some heavy stuff, it's "Fire It Up" by Thousand Foot Krutch. Oh you can't not want to run or punch something when you hear that song!

Don't think I have heard a song from her that I don't like.....I believe "Willie" is one of the best....and "Shaking Paper" comes to mind also....her version of "New York" is pretty good....
