You need to eat more protein to keep your blood sugar levels stable. Eggs for breakfast, a protein shake or bar later, chicken, tuna, Greek yogurt, cheese, along with your fruit, veg, and carbs of your choice. And make sure you eat every 4 hours or so. Meal timing doesn't matter for weight loss, but it does matter for hypoglycemia. Eating for health (hypoglycemia) and eating for weight loss are sometimes two different things, but you can make it work because it's all about a calorie deficit. Lots of people do. I agree with others who suggested that you eat more. You'll feel better and still be able to reach your goal. Since you're only 13 lbs away from your goal I'd suggest you start lifting weights and eat a 10% calorie deficit. You'll lose fat and inches and firm up and get the shape you want. You'll be happier with your results when you reach your goal size. It's possible that you may not lose any pounds, but you'll look good and no one knows how much you weigh anyway. As long as you look and feel the way you want it doesn't matter what the scale says.0

Hullooooo, body weight exercise!0 -
well i want to lose weight and also gain muscle. i want to lose the fat the has built up in my midsection and lower butt/upper thighs (that's where i always gain and lose first).
if 1200 is too low then how much should i eat?
Set your goal to maintain or half a pound per week loss, and lift heavy weights. That will get rid of the fat and give you the sort of body it sounds like you want. I would suggest Stronglifts 5x5. There are groups for it here.

can anyone suggest any foods or protein shakes or anything that can help me stay full longer and my blood sugar not crash? is more what i was looking for, please? lol0

i'm hypoglycemic, and when my blood sugar gets low, i get STARVING, like literally, physically painfully hungry. and i also get dizzy and nauseous. i also have a pretty fast metabolism... -.-
I have pretty severe hypoglycemia as well and when i start to get sick, I want to eat everything in sight to find a quick fix. Sometimes, it takes me a few days to get back to feeling normal. While the obvious solution is to not let your blood sugar get that low, it still happens to me from time to time. I have found that an apple with peanut butter will help me start to feel better in about twenty minutes and I can more rationally think through what I need to do next. You probably have figured this out for yourself, but eat a lot of protein in the morning and save the pancakes for later in the day.0 -
I agree with the suggestions for protein in the morning if you're hypoglycemic. I have the same issue, and I've found that as long as I have enough protein (and NOT a lot of carbs or sugar) in the morning, it seems to keep my blood sugar levels stable. I generally just have high protein cereal or oatmeal with an egg for breakfast, and a handful of almonds for a morning snack. This stops the morning crash and gets me through until lunch. It seems like mornings are the worst for me. You can also talk to a dietician about hypoglycemic diet, or get a book. They have good suggestions for healthy foods to eat that will keep you from crashing.0
-
See a dietician or physician.
If you are hypoglycemic, you need to eat properly. No matter what you want to weigh or look like in the mirror.
Health comes first and then you can aim for whatever you think is your perfect body.
Also, do some damn exercise and get some sunlight.0 -
i'm 5'4, just found out i'm 128 lbs. i'm ectomesomorph body type. i'm pretty skinny, but gain muscle faast, i have a LOT of muscle in my butts and legs, and a bit in my stomach area. i really want to get down to 115 again. oh also, i'm 20. female!
i'm hypoglycemic, and when my blood sugar gets low, i get STARVING, like literally, physically painfully hungry. and i also get dizzy and nauseous. i also have a pretty fast metabolism... -.-
i don't work out too much... i am more now that it's warmer. most of my physical activity comes from (sorry tmi!) intimacy with my boyfriend, ha! so decent amount, but not suuuuper active.
i'm trying to stay at 1200 cals a day...but omg it's hard. i keep just starving all the time!
i eat whole grains, fruits and veggies, eggs, protein bars, lean meat... but it's just never enough. my metabolism just gobbles it up and i'm hungry within 2 hours.
any advice? please!? this is so frustrating

my body fat is right around 25%. but i don't FEEL healthy.
can anyone suggest any foods or protein shakes or anything that can help me stay full longer and my blood sugar not crash? is more what i was looking for, please? lol
There was a time when I would get really lightheaded and dizzy if I got too hungry. I always made sure I was carrying some kind of granola bar or something that I could eat. Fiber one bars or Nature Valley worked well. Also nuts, or string cheese really helped. Right now the things that keep me fuller longer are things with high fat and moderate protein like nuts and peanut butter. Really high protein foods like cottage cheese and Greek yogurt help me to stay full but I'd still sometimes get dizzy from not eating for hours. Its ok to feel hungry and eat something every couple of hours (6-8 meals a day is normal for some), as long as you stay in whatever calorie goal you set.0 -
thanks to everyone for taking your time to give me good advice! i'm not really sure why people are acting like i'm a big idiot or something, i'm not, i'm just under-educated and inexperienced. my hypoglycemia + fast metabolism is just a big hassle.
and i'm glad so many people think things are so funny, excuse me for not being sure of what really constitutes as proper "exercise".
anyways thanks again, all advice is being taken into consideration0 -
To put it simply:
*1200 seems too low -- it's typically far too low for anyone that moves at all
*You are at a healthy weight. Focus on gaining muscle/recomping if you want to improve your physique
*To gain muscle, you can't be in a deficit like you are
*No one should ever be hungry ALL the time. Try eating more, increasing protein can help.0 -

I believe it is the I "gain muscle fast" assumption (at least for me).
It takes a lot of work and the right diet to gain muscle. Guys don't gain muscle fast, and it's exponentially harder for females. You're probably confusing fat loss for muscle gains (which really can't be done at the same time).0 -
Only women who shoot themselves up with synthetic testosterone gain muscles fast, so I suggest you stop taking steroids.0

Your ideal weight range is 116-146 pounds........eat more and you will feel better. You are not hungry, because your " metabolism gobbles it up "....you are hungry, because you don't eat enough.
I am 4'11.5" and 66 years and eat 1200 calories with 50 pounds lost. You should definitely eat more.....0 -

^ This. Especially, OP, if your main form of exercise is... intercourse.
Without some form of resistance training thrown in there, calorie surplus, or insane testosterone imbalance (which might be possible if your sexual activities are as rigorous and frequent as claimed), you're not actually "gaining muscle fast." You might have more LBM than other women, so that reducing any BF% reveals more muscle, but revealing muscle isn't actually "gaining" muscle. The whole ectomorph/mesomorph/animorph concept (sometypes) has been considered inaccurate for a long time, as well.0 -

Your doctor seriously said you're an ectomesomorph? Have they not read any science since 1990?
But in all seriousness, if your doctor is legitimately telling you you have a super fast metabolism and gain muscle easily:
a.) Did he/she do hormone tests to determine this? and b.) Why would he/she then tell you 1200 calories is a "good amount"?0 -
maybe "FAST" isn't the word. easier? i guess. i'm not just picking these things out of thin air.
and no sex isn't my ONLY amount of exercise, i said that i'm exercising more now that it's warmer outside. i do things.
so i'd appreciate if i could get some good advice rather than just be critiqued and receive negative feedback.0 -

Its really hard to give you advice if you have health issues we don't know about. Pretty much all of the advice given is given on the basis you have no health issues. Throwing in hormone and thyroid issues changes everything. You can't expect us to know that, we can only go by the information provided to us.
Some people may be able to better give you advice if they are familiar with issues. Lots of peope on here have hormone and thyroid issues.
Also, MFP assumes that you have an average metabolism, so if you have been diagnosed with an overly fast one your best option is to speak with your doctor or a nutritionist. Also keep in mind, many people choose incorrect settings on MFP What weight loss goal did you choose?
ANd MFP expects you to log your exercise and eat those calories back so even at 1200, you should be eating more than that on days you exercise.0 -

My advice is to question your current assumptions about yourself.
um, assumptions? i see zero assumptions made?
In bold are the statements that I think you should seriously reconsider. I'm not trying to talk down to you, I'm not saying outright that you're wrong or whatever. I'm saying you should try to do some research on those things (serious research, not a blog post that sounds like it fits you perfectly) and make an educated assessment for yourself.
those are all actually things my doctor has told me. not something i just decided for myself lol. the only assumption was my exercise which i said earlier that i was uneducated of what constitutes as actual exercise.
and to whoever above, i'm not getting a freakin' six pack in a month or some crap, i gain muscle fast. as in quicker than others.
Your doctor seriously said you're an ectomesomorph? Have they not read any science since 1990?
But in all seriousness, if your doctor is legitimately telling you you have a super fast metabolism and gain muscle easily:
a.) Did he/she do hormone tests to determine this? and b.) Why would he/she then tell you 1200 calories is a "good amount"?
oh, not the ectomesomorph thing, no, i didn't read that part.
they didn't tell me 1200 calories, that's what MFP app told me when i plugged in some numbers.
and yeah i've had a ton of tests ran on me. for everything. i have a lot of health issues. i have hormone & thyroid issues. because i have polycystic kidney disease. mild but still there. my metabolism IS overly fast. and i DO gain muscle easily. i DO have hypoglycemia. would you like my life story?
ANd MFP expects you to log your exercise and eat those calories back so even at 1200, you should be eating more than that on days you exercise.
i didn't think hormone/thyroid issues would need to be mentioned, i already said my metabolism is too fast and i have hypoglycemia, i figured that was enough?
i know i need to see a nutritionist, but with no money or decent insurance, that is a ways down the road so i came here for advice in the meantime.
i set my weight loss goal to 1 lb a week on MFP. it never really suggested option to me it just made me pick one lol.0
