The signs would be less subtle than one might think. There is no obvious evolutionary advantage for a woman to make such a display at the time of ovulation.

My guess is that it would be more of a protective trait against unwanted pregnancies from predatory males.
Or to encourage a selected mate to stick around and help out. Or both.
Depends partly on whether you think the female doesn't really want the predatory male.

Just before and during ovulation is when women can get pregnant
it isn't something you will necessarily notice by looking. Women do release more pheromones at that time though so if a woman smells unbelievably good, it's because she is ready to be knocked up, unless it is from her perfume of course.
Fact: There is no scientific evidence to support the theory that humans emit or respond to pheromones. The closest thing we have is cologne / perfume.0 -
