Conflicted!!! What to do, what to do?

Options
I have been on my "weightloss journey" for roughly 4 months. So far I have been extremely happy with my results. I have lost about 20 lbs. ( I still have about 10 lbs. to go). Here is were the problem comes in. I am going to the casino tomorrow and have had this planned for 2 months. At this particular casino they have Ben and Jerry's. I have been telling myself for two months that as long as I stick to the plan don't go over calories/ continue to lose weight.... that I was going to splurge and get the most delicious sundae there is. I'm talking Cherry Garcia (full fat) hot fudge, whipped cream AND cherry!!! I have passed up numerous other "cheats" by telling myself "don't cheat now, save it for the sundae" , which was easy to tell myself when our casino day was 2 months away. Now, this isn't a distant splurge.... it's TOMORROW! I already and having guilt over the sundae and I havent even eaten it yet.

Keeping in mind that there are NO Ben and Jerry's anywhere around me ( Casino is about 1.5 hours away and that is the closest one) AND, that Ben and Jerry's is my favorite thing in the world. WHAT DO I DO!

1) I deserve it! Eat the sundae.... deal with the guilt

2) I havent hit my goal yet :( Skip the sundae... deal with the regret of not getting it

    eat the darn sundae!

you are at the casino - enjoy yourself, have a little vacation. if it were me, i would skip the drinks that are so common on the casino floor, and keep moving around. its gotta be a fairly good size, rotate around the room so you get a little bit of a walk. and eat the ice cream. if youve been dreaming about it for two months - i mean come on. you DO deserve a little indulgence.

you can plan it out too - know youre having the sundae on which ever day, and make sure the days around it are well balanced. one sundae will not break you, nor your weight loss goals.

    have fun!

You don't really need us to tell you to eat the sundae. You want us to tell you to not feel guilty about it. You've worked hard and have been looking forward to it. So eat the damn sundae and enjoy every last bite of it

.... having guilt over the sundae and I havent even eaten it yet.

Life is too short, one day isn't going to make a difference to your downward trend. Enjoy it, and move on. Don't punish yourself afterwards.

Eat it!!! It's not like it's gonna make you gain back the entire 20 lbs overnight. Youre scale might go up a pound, if that, and then rightt back down in a week. Go for it!

Majorly agree with this! Eat it!!! Just get back on track the next day. One Sundae will not make or break your journey. Its these kind of desires and then subsequent denials of the desire that can knock things off track. You have done an amazing job so far! Eat the sundae! And enjoy it (don't feel guilty)

I want to echo what others said and also sympathize with your feelings. I too have had planned "treat" meals and felt nothing short of terror when it was finally upon me to order the food I had been looking forward to. That's when I realized I was getting obsessive and needed to back off being so rigid and strict. Then I dug into that Five Guys burger all the way and shared the small fries with my daughter even though it put me over for that day, and got back on track the next day. And weeks later I'm still losing and don't regret a thing. :) I think a big treat now and then reminds us that this is for life, and it's sustainable in the real world.

Eat the sundae. Love the sundae. Regret nothing.

Eat the sundae and love every mouthful!! Over the next few days, cut back on a few calories if you feel some guilt...no worries. One bad day won't ruin your weight loss.

Option B, when you win a wad of cash, jump and dance around a lot, work off the sundae

The problem with "dieting" is the guilt that people feel when they go off plan. Guess what? It's not supposed to be a diet. It's supposed to be an awareness and lifestyle change. I eat Ben & Jerry's on a regular basis................just not the whole thing at one time. So have some. Enjoy it. And if anything check to see if they have the new CORE flavors!!!

Sorry to sound harsh but if you continue this line of thinking your journey is going to be rough. One cheat meal is not going to break you unless you just give up all together. Just like one trip to the gym doesn't make you "fit". Everything in moderation - that is a good saying because those who deprive themselves end up splurging the most. Enjoy the treat and keep it moving.

Eat it slowly. Really savor each bite! If you haven't had a lot of sweets, make sure you don't inhale the sundae. You don't want to make yourself sick.

    But enjoy it! :drinker:

I'd go for option 3. Eat the sundae and adjust your calories the rest of the week to hit your goal on AVERAGE for the week. Win, win!

Where in the world is there no Ben & Jerry's?? There is an entire refrigerator of it in every grocery store near me.

It sounds like you're giving yourself a complex over this. It's just food. Honestly, it sounds like you've been obsessing over a cheat, which is not good. Why has this become that important to you? Are you depriving yourself of joy in your daily sustenance? Once you have enjoyed the ice cream, will you pick something else to obsess about?

Eat the Sunday and enjoy it. Be aware as you eat it, if you get to the full/stop point, stop even if you haven't finished it. I have found that I can't handle as much of those special 'treat' foods as I used to. My craving is actually satisfied with a smaller portion.

If you are compelled to feel 'guilty' about it, plan on exercising an extra 100 calories a day for a week. ;)
