*Top reason(s) why you fell off track*
For me it has always been:
-Hit a plateau
-Didn't like the scales numbers after doing my best
-Got lazy
-Emotional/stressful times caused me to not care
*Reasons why I'm motivated and ready to finally stick with it*
-Everything I've learned from MFP
-Supportive people on the same boat as me
-Want to help myself & others achieve their goals
-I want my story on the "Success Stories" board someday
-I'm ready to better my overall health for myself
Through the help from everyone on here I was finally taught to not become fixated on your weight, that you need to exercise/eat well for your overall health and that in the long run your weight loss will be the big bonus. Create and have the best relationship with yourself, not with the scale.

Mostly after a few weeks of seeing results I slack off. I get into the "I'm just going to rest the next couple of days" mindset which usually turns into a couple of weeks :explode:
This time though, and with all the intermittent nice/warm days we're having, it makes me want to work that much harder knowing that spring/summer are just around the corner and I want to be successful this go around!0 -

*Got bored with my workouts
*Stress/emotional eating
Reasons I'm getting back on:
*Really tired of feeling crappy
*Really tired of being the heaviest person in all of the exercise classes that I take
*Getting my stomach pain back on control
*Improving my mood (crappy foods make me a very cranky person)0 -

Cravings were definitely a big one for me as well0 -
In the past?
- Having a perfectionist "all or nothing" mentality. So if I "fell off track" in a moment by having something "bad", I'd just give up the entire day and swear I'd be perfect tomorrow. Tomorrow rarely came. "Imperfect" days turned to weeks, months, and years, finally resulting in obesity.
- A huge weakness for desserts.
Now?
I dropped the perfectionist mentality and finally realised there was no "track" to fall off. Took away the pressure. Every day is just part of the greater journey, no matter what I do, or do not, eat.
I allow myself desserts, without any moralizing or villainizing. I don't do it everyday in moderation, which doesn't work for me. I have them pretty infrequently,but when I do I allow myself to have as much as I want, guilt free.0 -
Fell off track:
- That "time of the month"
- No support
- Lazy
- I loved eating late at night
- Portion control
- In a lot of physical pain
- Too busy
.. I can go on for a while
Back up and ready to go:
- I have support ( all of you fine people )
- I have a lot more time on my hands
- Extremely motivated
- I don't want to go another summer feeling embarrassed
- Bike season is coming and I'm not gonna be a whale on the back of a crotch rocket
- I want to wear a bikini and feel damn sexy
- Done feeling tired and sorry for myself
- BEING HAPPY duhhh
- I love hiking, I don't want to be heaving for air!
- I don't want to suck in my stomach 24/7
(I do it so much I don't even know I'm doing it anymore!)
I'm not letting my weight loss goal slip away again!0 -

It got to my daughters 1st birthday and I bought a big cake ... There were not enough people to eat the cake .... I ate the cake. Cake led to biscuits, popcorn, take away ... So on and so fourth. Then my eldest daughter decided to be inconsiderate and have a birthday! ... 'Sigh' ... I bought a big cake ... There were not enough people to eat the cake .... I ate the cake. Back on track:
-Clothes aren't fitting well, I'm NOT buying new fat clothes0 -
Depression after a series of deaths in my family - and then being completely ashamed of myself for gaining back all the weight I lost
- Took a couple of years and therapy to deal with the grief and then some self work to accept I am where am I am and letting myself slide even further back wasn't going to help - moving back in the right direction now and feel 300% better !0 -
Back on track:
-Clothes aren't fitting well, I'm NOT buying new fat clothes
Same here!! Once I started overflowing in my jeans that I'm already not happy with that definitely got me back on track again, refuse to spend money on a bigger size0 -
After the kids were born, I wasn't making time for workouts. Then came lots of Canadian beer, German beer, eating at my desk, German beer, Canadian beer, cake, Canadian beer... Depression over clothes getting tight in the wrong places, depression over work, more Canadian beer...

Fell of track;
- 10 day vacation in Ont for my sons wedding
- Drank and ate too much the whole time
- Came back and had a big warehouse reno that lasted until Dec
- Drank and ate too much the whole time
- Always feel the need to bulk up in the fall
- Church of the NFL - I'm a seventh day horizontalist :happy:
Starting again;
- Hit 197 - hated the way I felt
- Pants were getting too tight
- Jan 1
- just seems easier in the new part of the year for some reason.
- I actually like exercising and am always surprised at how much after I finish and wonder why I haven't in a while.0 -

2014 has been an extremely stressful year so far. I have had to deal with deaths, cars breaking down, getting robbed, etc. In January and most February I did not take the stress well and would go out to eat or give myself a break whenever I had a bad day. But at the end February I decided to try and control my stress eating. I have not gone our to eat in three weeks and it feels great. My weight loss has been steady and I am so close to 50 lbs I can taste it. My weight loss is not only changing my body but my mind. My self control and emotional strength are getting stronger with every pound I loose.0 -
Fell off:
Time of the month
Cravings - usually due to time of the month lol
Too much overtime at work
Too much assignments for school
Lazy & Lack of motivation
Getting back:
Tired of not liking what I see in the mirror
Looking at pics of when I was fit
Homework dies down0 -
Kids activities, Working fulltime while opening another business, went back to get my Masters, life...
I turn 40 this year and I refuse to be 40 and frumpy! I am going to finally do something for ME!
Happy to have more friends here on MFP to keep me motivated and hopefully so I can help motivate you!0 -

Good post as I'm taking accountability TODAY for my falling off track. Right now, I can think of these two reasons as to why I'm off.
1. Biggest reason I fall off track is emotional reasons. When I get stressed, upset, anxious, depressed, etc., I eat to comfort myself. And I tend to binge eat (though no purging). There's been a heck of a lot of stress in my life right now, including physical issues that limit exercise.
2. I went back to my hometown to visit family a couple weeks ago, and that will almost always get me off track if I'm there for more than a couple days, because I slip back into old habits: no exercise, bad, bad food choices (fried cheese curds, fish fry, frozen custard, etc.). And now, once I've broken my healthy habits, the bad ones stuck. ETA: I find once I'm on a bad track that I start to give up. "Oh, I've already f*'ed up, what does it matter anymore? Give me more cookies."
This changes today. One step at a time, but I will regain my healthy habits.0 -

Uhh YUM, that would get me off track too!
For me it was an overuse injury in my knee followed by a back injury...I had to cut back my workouts almost entirely, and after awhile of that my motivation died and my eating habits got sloppy. Only bad enough to maintain, though, thankfully, and now I'm back on track!0 -
Reasons why I fall off the wagon (repeatedly!):
- cravings
- lack of willpower
- pain/physical injuries
- i just plain love to eat
Reasons I keep getting back on:
- I hate feeling fat and bloated
- I need to prove to myself I can do this
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. And again. And again. And again... so that's what I'm doing.0 -

Thinking that I could treat myself to a few glasses of wine without getting the munchies (wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong)
Traveling on business trips staying in hotels with poor menu choices.0 -
Job change gone bad
No job for 2 months
New pain in hip
Marriage on the rocks
Overwhelmed with life in general
This was July to September...
New Job that I love
New diagnosis of hamstring tendonitis/hip arthritis, treated and pain free now
Marriage Rock solid...
This is January to current...back on track and happy with results I have seen...0 -
