Not in my 40s yet, but 31 here with no kids and don't want any either. Unless, you count the four legged, furry kind. :)

I'm a black woman with no kids and no desire to have any. I'm over 40 and while I may have some regrets motherhood was NOT one of them. Add me. I respect those with kids but I was never a very maternal person. BUT I've had plenty of cats and currently am a mini-schnauzer owner/guardian!

    43. Never been married and no children. Not sure if it was by my choice, but it definitely was his up above!
  • OH YAY!!!! More ladies like ME!!!! Whew! 42 and child-free; not childless. It's a CHOICE! I *just* joined this site to day (a couple hours ago, even) so forgive me if I didn't read the whole thread just yet.

So yeah, I've been called selfish before and all that good stuff. A coworker a long time ago even made a $1M bet with me that I would eventually have at least one. I'm still trying to find her to collect, dangit!!! I even asked a doctor when I was 23 to have my tubes tied. Of course, he refused and insisted I would change my mind. Sure wish I could remember the dude's name because I would looooooove to go back.

Look, sometimes we just KNOW that we aren't up for the kid thing. There's nothing wrong with it either. I've known since I was 12. My mom even asked me one day "What did we ever do to you to make you not want any kids?" She was joking, of course, and we still laugh about it. My folks are perfectly fine without grandchildren. I'm an only child so, there ya go. I did have a parrot for a while and my mom even called her the "grandbird". hee hee

Okay, enough rambling...back to work. Look forward to chatting with y'all!!!

That's cute! I have a friend who's had her parrot for years and her mom refers to him as her 'grandbird,' too.
My grandparents refer to themselves and 'grandma and grandpa' when they speak to my furry nugget. :D

And you're right, sometimes you just know. I think I came out of womb knowing I didn't want kids. Never had an interest in 'spawning' nor do I have an interest in getting hitched (marriage is serious stuff and I don't know if I can make that kind of a commitment). Plus I've always been more of an animal person than a people person. I have more patience for critters than I do people.

This is great. Perhaps we aren't as rare as I previously thought! I would love to receive friend requests from any of the child-free people who have posted here. I haven't any friends yet - boo hoo

    Have a good day

I just turned 40 and am child-free as well. Funny, with everybody having kids later and later in life, I never really felt any pressure from others in my 30s. It's only now that I've really been feeling it (co-workers/dates/neighbors asking why I never had them, etc). Never wanted them, and now I'm physically not able to have them either. We should start an MFP community.

I'd love any friend adds. I just recently came out of lurker status here as I've finally gotten serious about my weight loss. Being quiet and solitary may have its purpose but it's not helped me much. So imagine my happiness to discover this thread and not being alone :)

(mid 40's no kids and sadly no relationship either :()

We should start a group for 40+ women, single and no kids.

I fall into this bracket, and I don't even have a cat.

GREAT idea ... only let's stretch it a bit and add us in our late thirties :)

Right here, don't have and don't want! Most of my friends have kids and I have a niece and nephew....that's good enough for me. I just live with my two dogs and I'm happy about it!

Same here ... i have a nephew and he is more than enough ... my two dogs and two cats are enough for me too ;)

I never wanted kids. I am very happy with children. I have been working with kids all of my life. Kids are not for every woman. I adore my nieces and nephew. They are all adults now. My life is happy and full with my girl friends. We travel to different countries today and we have a wonderful time. We are all dating men. Their kids are all adults as well. So it works out for all of us. We are just enjoying life.

35 and no kids and it doesn't look like there are any on the horizon. I agree that it's hard to find people my age without kids!

Glad to see other 20 somethings respond to this and say they have no interest in having children.
I'm 26 with no plans or desires to have kids.
I live in a rural community in central IL so it makes people totally crazy.
My bf is totally content with it too which is nice.

43, married 16 years and no kids, just 4 doggies. They're like kids...a handful, but they don't talk back. :)

Anyone is welcome to add me.

I'm 44, married to my sweetheart of 10 years and have no kids due to infertility. Your story pretty much sums up mine: tried to have kids around 37, went through the infertility process of needles and hormones for 3 years and gained weight throughout the process, money finally ran out and I finally had to make a choice. I took my life back and joined WW and lost a good amount of weight only to get back to bad eating habits. While I'm fairly active (exercise 4-5x a week or run races), my eating habits our all over the place. I'm looking to get toned since gravity is working it's magic.

Meanwhile, I'm over the idea of children, feel young at heart, and am intent to age gracefully if I can help it. It will be nice to motivate each other throughout our weight loss process.

47, no kids (but love kids; I'm a teacher), never married.

Prefer other people's kids (ones I can send home at the end of the day).

Don't own any animals, but I think the neighbour's cat has adopted me since she hasn't gone home for two years, lol!
