Sometimes, just do the best you can do.

Was feeling hungry at 2pm. In the middle of a busy workday, sometimes, KFC is the best I can do to get a bite of something semi-nutritious but not overly junky. My "go-to" snack/meal is a grilled breast and wing (both without skin) plus a side order of green beans. Around 200 calories total, plenty of protein, and it satisfies both my hunger and "salty" craving.
Today, I drove past about 200 restaurants to get to my nearest KFC. I had visions of my 200 calories worth of grilled breast, wing and green beans dancing in my head all the way there. I placed my order. The server told me that the oven that they use to cook the grilled chicken was broken, so they only had original and extra crispy.
I was so hungry that I could have eaten my cellphone and left shoe. I quickly pulled the KFC website up on my cellphone and calculated alternatives. If I got the extra crispy breast and did not eat the skin, but did eat about 1/4 of the breading, along with a side order of green beans, I would still be looking at about 250 calories. Less protein and a bit more fat than I wanted, but under the circumstances, a reasonable alternative that would keep me under my daily calories.
Sometimes, all we can do is the best that we can do under the circumstances that are presented. And it is a hell of a lot better than the 3-4 pieces of chicken with full breading, biscuit, and 1-2 side orders that I would ordinarily have eaten pre-MFP. We take our victories where we can find them.

That's awesome...I probably would have just ate the chicken, skin, breading and all (just being honest) :blushing:0

Great post, agreed. We can't always control our food choices and circumstances...it's about learning some basic, healthy habits so we can make informed choices...but not beat ourselves up over these things either.0
