Does exercise build bone density?

When I was younger, I was diagnosed with Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis.
It is a bone disease that only 1:1,000,000 people get.
Most commonly it is in adults over 40.
There is no cure for it, and it may or may not go away for a while.
The last time it erupted in my leg was 11 years ago, but I want to avoid it ever coming back and minimize the long term side effects.
EX: Weaker bones, more prone to injury, when I squat my right leg dips inward if it's really heavy because it tries to compensate for the past injury (that was where I had the surgeries due to the disease), stuff like that.
Will exercise build bone density and make them stronger, thus helping prevent the return of CRMO?
What exercise would probably be most effective?
Or should I take different measures to build bone strength?

Google "lifting heavy builds bone density". You will find all kinds of stuff about exercise building bone density. If you want to just take my word for it - lift heavy.0

mild-to-medium impact, self-supporting exercise (think "walking" or "skating" vs. "biking" or "elipticals") builds overall bone density. Anything where you slightly jar the entire skeleton with every step. Salsa dancing. Stuff like that.
That being said, anything that is building muscle will also help with bone density.0
