NSV: I ran three miles!

Options
I failed the mile run every year from 7th through 12th grade in gym. I have never run anything more than a half mile. I ran three miles! Yes!:love:

That is AWESOME! I was always the last kid in my class to cross the finish line on mile run day. I HATED the Presidential Fitness Test with a passion. I'm up to about 2.33 miles and hope to join you in the 3 mile club soon! That's a great achievement, you should be very proud of yourself! :smokin:

    Congrats! That's awesome.

The more I think about the mile runs we used to do in school, the angrier I get about them. I don't understand why gym teachers didn't do more to prepare student's to run a mile, by doing some type of interval program like c25k. One day they just take everyone out to the track and say "go! Run a 10 minute mile or you fail!" Talk about setting kids up for failure!

That is a huge breakthrough! I was told that if you can run 3 miles, you can run 5-6 no problem. It is a psychological and physical barrier that you've blasted through. Not telling you to go out and run 5 miles today, but it is nice to know are getting fit and preparing to go big if you wanted to. I'm the same, not a big distance guy and running has always been a chore. Once i hit 3 mile ability, i haven't looked back and have been running 4-5 at a clip for 6 months now - so i'm no expert - but running isn't the chore it used to be and sometimes (just sometimes) i actually enjoy it a lot!
