Garcinina Cambogia-- Anyone heard of it??

Options
I have a friend who bought some of these "Magic pills" that help you lose weight with no exercise or diet (Yeah right!) and I did a little research but I sort of suck at finding the right pages with ACCURATE information on it.
From what I have seen it looks legit but I'd like to hear from people who have actually used it. Does it work???
I am already dieting, counting calories and exercising (Granted I do have cheat days) and in a week I have lost almost 7 lbs already but that is probably just water weight seeing as it dropped so fast.
Anyways, I know it isn't exactly healthy to lose more than 2 lbs per week but if I can at least find something to help guarantee that for when I find another job then that would be awesome!!
SO please share what you know about the Garcinia Cambogia pill :)!

there is no way to effectively lose weight other than a calorie deficit.

If it's facilitating that through diuretics or appetite suppressants- it's still a calorie deficit.

There is no magic pill- just hard work and consistency.

I'll readily admit I know nothing about it except it's a big name that's popped up recently- like kale has- or the acai berry. Sounds to be like another way to part a fool from his money.

I'd rather spend the money on protein powder.

This seems to be popping up a lot lately, did Dr. Oz do something about it? Usually if there's hokum floating around he's responsible.

You're doing what you know you need to do, counting calories and exercising. There is no "magic pill".

Please share your research. Pubmed isn't a bad start for some data on it

There is positive research out there!!

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21569551
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15680676
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15200237

But unless you are an over weight lab rat it probably will be of no interest to you.

Sadly studies have shown that were it's effective for rats it's not the case for humans and basically does nothing for use.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22530711
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11134690
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18729243

However if you have forked out cash for them and want to try them regardless of the studies then at least the product is safe.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15234082

There are plenty of calorie deficit diets out there to chose from - hopefully you can find one that works for you.

    Good luck.

I have heard of it...all over Facebook etc. I find it hard to believe there is a "magic pill". It would be interesting to hear something from Dr. Oz. like the above person said.

WebMD classifies it as "possibly safe" when used for no more than 12 weeks. More studies and info are needed, no one really knows how it works exactly - it's still in the developmental stage and whether or not it actually works in humans is yet to be seen. It just hasn't been around long enough. I'm not tempted to use it, but it'll be interesting to see how it effects people long term.

WebMD states that there is no evidence of it actually assisting in weight loss or fat breakdown.

    http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-818-GARCINIA.aspx?activeIngredientId=818&activeIngredientName=GARCINIA

This sight shows more info about the pill/fruit and states what you need to know to avoid being scammed, like checking the price tag (It is supposed to be cheap) and checking the ingredients. It is apparently most effective if it is in it's purest form and at a minimum of 60% HCA in it.

I used my phone initially to look up the info and I am having a hard time finding all of the pages that I used because they look different on the computer lol so I must read again #_#

I agree that it probably isn't wise to try it out just yet.. I am assuming that the reason they have put it on the market is to test it on people and try to get some reviews BUT that wouldn't be a very accurate way to test it since it isn't a controlled environment :/

I already have enough health issues so I am weary about trying it out haha
