I'm absolutely loving the raw vegan lifestyle, I eat endless amounts of fruit and vegetables with little bits of nuts and seeds here and there, and it feels AMAZING. I dont even crave other foods, this is the lifestyle for me.
Anyone else into raw veganism and/or fruitarianism?????

I sure hope you are supplementing or you are going to be malnourished in some areas and it will eventually make you very sick.
I am speaking from personal experience.
You are not giving your body balanced nutrition in no shape, form or fashion.0 -
I'm vegetarian. WTF is a fruitarian? Are there really people that ONLY eat fruit?0

Haha, I do agree with you there. She is a bit insane if she is constantly thinking about food and getting mad at people that dont agree with her. But I still do feel really good just eating mostly fruits veggies and nuts. But yeah freelee is a little insane.0 -
Yes I am raw vegan and more than 90% of my calories come from raw food (salads & fruits).
And yes I am absolutely loving each and every minute of it.0 -
Those who think that fruitarians only eat fruit have not done their research. 80/10/10 fruitarians eat MASSIVE salads. Greens are a major, major part of the diet.0

Freelee does not only eat fruit. She is a "high carb low fat raw vegan", and eats cooked foods.
Mouthfull, but yeah. She doesn't only eat fruit. She's pretty open about it.0 -
OP, is it a good idea to be so restrictive with your food while in recovery for an eating disorder? I don't mean to pry but I remember one of your threads regarding this from not too long ago. From experience, going from one thing to the next - veganism, vegetarianism, et cetera - were just other ways for me to control what I was eating. This was years ago I was doing any of this, for the record. I guess I'm just curious as to what's making you want mostly raw foods other than the "feel good" from eating them.0

I'm actually interested in this lifestyle. I don't believe a fruitarian ONLY eats fruit. The 80/10/10 plan (which can be implemented into any diet such as vegan, raw vegan, vegetarian, omnivorous) is a formula where you consume 80% carbohydrates, 10% Protein, and 10% fats. Fruitarians get their 80% of carbs from fruits.0

It means you only things that you can consume without killing the plant (e.g., you can take an apple or a grape or a blueberry off the tree, vine, or bush and the plant is fine -- it's actually part of the plant's propagation "strategy" for animals to take the fruits and spread the seeds). So in addition to things we normally think of as fruits, it also includes thinks we think of as vegetables, like tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, avocados, squash, olives, etc. Corn should be OK, too, I think. Essentially, anything that bears seeds should be fair game. Plus the seeds themselves, and nuts, so fruitarians shouldn't _theoretically_ have any nutrition supplement needs that vegans in general don't face (I think).
I don't understand the logic of it as a dietary choice absent an ethical belief that it's wrong to kill any living thing, even a plant (as you do when you eat certain vegetables, where you're actually eating the plant itself and not the fruit, e.g., root vegetables, and things that are basically the stalk and leaves, too, I believe. I'm not sure what the thinking is about lettuces and other greens, herbs, etc. that you can harvest repeatedly through the growing season without killing the plant, but my impression is that a strict fruitarian wouldn't eat them, because it does injure the plant, even if it recovers fairly easily.)
As a dietary choice, without the ethical component, it just seems like one of the endless ways that people come up with to restrict their food choices, either out of faddism or orthorexia or because it often creates a calorie deficit without having to actually count the calories.0 -

This approach is just another way to fuel your eating disorder.0 -

OP - You are definitely not eating raw vegan. You're not even eating vegetarian -- otherwise why are you logging tuna and chicken into your diary?
Please don't encourage a dangerous diet saying you are on it and feel amazing when it actuality you are not even following that diet. Eating a bunch of fruit all at once (something I enjoy doing regularly) and being raw vegan are NOT the same thing. If you were actually raw vegan, you probably would probably be feeling like crap and posting this from the toilet.0 -
I eat a predominantly raw, 80/10/10 diet. Feel free to add Could do with like minded friends!0

I recently switched to the "Raw till 4" lifestyle which offers a little more freedom. In the long run I'd like to go 100% raw, but it's a work in progress. It's nice to know I have some other people out there that are raw or raw till 4! It helps : )0
