What's a reasonable weight for a 5'6 female?

Until I hit 40, I had always weighed between 133-138. I'm 43 now and have been 140-145 for the last few years...weight crept up to 150 recently. :-O

I am trying to determine a healthy weight for myself. All of the weight charts I have seen say 133-155 is normal for my height. That's a pretty wide range!

Well, if you go by what Joel Fuhrman says, 95 pounds for the first 5 feet then 4 pounds per inch above that (for women). Therefore, ideal weight for done one our height is 119. That is a BMR of just ver 1 I, and that is considered in the "normal" range.

Um, I am 5'10 and If I got to 135 I would look horrible!!! I got to 148 and was a size 4 and my ribs were poking out. I don't think that formula works for everyone. Muscle weighs more than fat too, so how does that account for that? My sister is 5'6" and looks banging at 130-140. She works out, is toned and has the best legs and butt ever!

I am just over 5'6 and if I weighed 119 I would be dead! Based on normal sized women I know that are my height I would say a good weight would be anywhere Fromm 130 -160 depending on your build .

    Joel Fuhrman is a quack.
    5'6" small frame-120-133 medium frame- 130-144 large frame-140-159

that google search took me less time than it probably took you to make the thread.

I'd say whatever weight you look and feel good at. It varies greatly depending on body composition and bone structure. I'm 5'6 and in the 118-120 range, and don't think I look sickly or underweight at all. I also see women on here who are the same height, and weight 20-25lbs more than me and look better than I do. Yet when I weighed 135, I looked flabby & lumpy. So there really isn't an answer, we're all different. Set a goal weight in a healthy range and work towards it. You may be happy with your loss before you ever reach that goal, or you may get there and want to lose more.

I also don't look sickly when I weigh between 115 and 120. I look downright fluffy above 130, even when I danced. That's why we have a range of healthy weights.
