When to take a rest day?

I've worked out 7 consecutive days (I'd say moderately hard, usually an hour of cardio and an hour of strength/core exercises (mostly on the mat)). I'm training about 2+ hours a day because I'm training for track season. I'm not sore at all, and I'd totally continue working out this hard, but I don't know if I should take a rest day even though I feel okay. I'm already pretty fit so I guess my body is just accustomed to all the kinds of exercise I'm doing. I'm relatively injury prone to begin with, so do you think it's worth it to take a rest day? I'm so torn...and bored over spring break...

Especially if you'r einjury-prone, and working out for 14+ hours this week alone I'd take a rest day or two, spread it out over your workout days or like myself take weekends off ad train Mon-Fri. Keep the legs fresh for when track season hits full-on and not be sidelined at the very beginning because of something you could have avoided

I say at least once a week. But really you have to learn and test your own body (I know this is not the "one size fits all" answer we want but it's really the truth).

    This

At least one day a week. I personally take more but one rest day minimum. Got to give your body and muscles a break.

I am currently doing 2 workouts. 1 is cardio, 1 is strength. I take a day off from strength when I do a long cardio day. Then I take a day off from cardio the day after my long day. It works for me.

I've gotten to where I take at least one day off. Sometimes two.

I find when I don't, my workouts aren't as efficient. It's better to give myself a day to be lazy and recover so I can kick *kitten* the rest of the week.

I take 2 days off per week for the same reason as above. My muscles like to recuperate. Helps me kick butt the rest of the week.

I take a full day off once a week but i also stagger the intensity of my workouts, a very intense day is followed by a lighter day even if different muscle groups are trained. This works really well for me, trial and error is really the only way your gonna find what's best for you. Good Luck.
