Hey there! I'm 31 with 130lbs to lose in total. So far I'm down 9. I would start by setting up your profile on this site and your calorie goals. Stick to them as much as possible and try to get some walking in everyday. Get a food scale and weigh everything you eat so you can log and get an accurate calories in vs out ratio. Drink lots of water!! Feel free to add me as a friend, its going to be a long road so the more friends the better!0

Hi! I'm a 32yr old,mom of four boys aged 8-9-9-10yrs.(married) My original goal was one year 100 lbs. i'm down 75lbs. (i started last June) Feel free to add me. As i get closer to the 100lb mark, i've changed my goals and think i may shoot for 25lbs over and above the 100lbs. This would put me at the top end of healthy for my age/height. good luck!0

Hi there, I'm on my way to losing 100 pounds. I'm in my mid-40s.
For me, I wasn't able to implement all the facets of weight loss all at once. So I entered into my process, knowing I would come up against things that were harder than others. I spent months having my focus on getting enough water...then I had months of trying to eat one salad a day...I just kept working on them. Everyone is different, but for me, it truly has been a process. Two YEARS later, I'm really starting to put it all together. Of course, many people don't take that long!
Be patient with yourself, you probably have many changes to make. If you're looking for lifestyle change, it can take some time. You're worth it! And in order to make those changes LASTING, you're going to have to do the work of digging in.
So, where to start?
Are you feeling like there's a certain place that YOU CAN start? I'll list a couple places that I think a person would start:
-getting more water
-taking a walk
-finding out how many calories you consume...take one week and log EVERYTHING you normally eat, don't try to "diet" or restrict anything, just evaluate where you are actually AT
-cut back on certain foods (like refined sugars, as an example)
-add in nutritious foods (like vegetables)
I've kept a blog for two years which has really helped me! I easily "forget" the progress I've made (because there's still so much that needs to be done) or even forget what I'm trying to focus on. So for me, journaling on my blog has helped me make the steps necessary for life change. It has also helped me truly see that I can't lose 100 pounds in a week! It's been a reality check for me! Best to you!0 -

I'm 37 needs to lose 130+ feel free to add me, I log my food journal every day, I believe the key to lose weight is changing our lifestyle and logging our food and water intakes, it's important to know what we are eating and not to eat randomly.
A group of people can always achieve things better motivating each other.
Good luck:flowerforyou:0 -

First learn to use this website from tracking food to exercise. It is annoying and bothersome at first but in the end it will be your best buddy.0 -
Hi! I am 34, married 18 years, and have 4 kiddos (14-7). This was my first week! I am starting out with loosing 100, starting weight was 271. I cant believe that I lost 11.2 lbs this first week, and hold yalls horses if you want to say something about the big weight loss, but I was seriously drinking a 2 liter of coke a day, making sweet tea and kooliad all the time, so so so ridiculous! I cut all that out, I only drink water and somtimes chrystal light added. I didnt' even like water but I knew it was something I was gonna have to get over. I just drop a half of a lemon in there and drink, drink, drink water! I am also not eating all those sweets I was making. I was eating so very bad... I got an elliptical from a friend, I can only do 5 min at a time, but thats 5 minutes more than what I was doing. I just do what ever I can here at home right now getting myself more fit and I started walking. I can only do 2 blocks. But I am not ashamed, I am going to lose this and its gonna take a little bit to get my booty in gear, but I do intervals all day long. And I love ZUMBA!!! I do that on my kiddos Kinects game. We can so do this!!!!0

Also measure yourself!!! I started a spiral notebook beside my bed. I am only going to weight and measure once a week (Thursdays). If you go to sparkpeople.com they tell you how to measure everything and what to measure. I sure didnt know. I just googled How to take your measurements when losing weight and that was one of my choices Good luck and feel free to add me.0

Hello!
I'm 28, almost 29, and a mommy to my 14 month old amazing son and my 7 year old equally amazing stepson. I'm down 29 lbs from my highest weight last year, and still have about 150 to go to get to a REALLY healthy weight for my frame and height (5'10'')
Feel free to add me! I'm just getting started back on here, and have been logging my foods for 4 days. It really does help to have more and more friends, so anyone who wants another friend who will be actively tracking food/exercise and posting in the discussion boards, you know what to do!
Good luck to everyone!0 -
when i started (a year ago), my goal was to loose 30 pounds. I started out good, slacked off for a while and am now back on it.. i do good starting out but always hit a plateau.. i get discouraged and fall off again... anyone have a good solution to this besides changing up my exercising?? i just started using this website again... it holds me accountable and seeing my weight go down on the ticker helps a lot.. feel free to add me, the more we can help each other and give advice, the better off i think we'll be (at least for me.. )

Well congratulations you're headed in the right direction, by joining myfitnesspal. It has many good tools to help you to keep on track. I know it's helped me a lot. I keep track of what I eat on the food diary and I like that it keeps common foods that you eat on record so you can refer to it and you don't have to search the information again. I like seeing the graph that shows when you started and it post the weight you started out on seeing when you lose weight. All positive incentives. I started on Jan. 9th at 264 and now in March 21st I'm down to 232. I also started out with 10 minute walks then increased more time, now I'm walking 4.4 miles a day, five days a week. My knees use to ache that's why I started out slow. I decided to lose weight because I kept going to the doctor for so many health issues and the doctor said it was all weight related. Enlarged liver, A1c was up and diabetes, and GERD. I knew things weren't going to get any better if I didn't do something about it now. I use to take 1,000 mg. of metformin twice a day, now they changed my med. and it's only 5 mg . once a day. Blood pressure is down.I share this with you so hopefully you don't have to become ill to make the decision to stay on program. Before joining myfitnesspal I had lost 30 lbs. I need 72 lbs. more to lose. I wish you good luck and you have my support on this new journey that you decided to take. Oh one more thing I know some people might not agree with this but I weigh myself everyday about the same time a nurse told me to do that, it helps you to keep on track. Sometimes I would gain a pound of some ounces that just made me to strive harder to keep on track and not to say like I use to, " oh well I gained I might as well give up."0

Hi! I'm in my 30's and have about 75 lbs.-100 lbs. to lose. Would love some friends to keep me motivated. I find that I start off really well and then get off track very quickly. I have always been over weight or obese so I have nothing to compare myself to as far as a slimmer version of myself. Would really like to make this the year I finally lose the weight for good and become a happier person!
Feel free to add me!0 -
Hi! I am 37, married with 3 kids and I need to lose over 100 lbs. Not sure how much, I will let my journey decide. My lowest weight for the last 12 years was 220 if that gives you any clue where I am. That was 3 kids and a husband ago! My oldest is a boy who just turned 9, I have another boy who is 5 and my youngest is a girl who is turning one next month. Time to kick the baby fat out! I've struggled with my weight my entire life. I look at pictures from high school, I weighed 170 and thought I was fat! Wow! So this my umpteenth try at losing the weight but I am determined. I am a week in and have lost 3lbs. I am using this site, plus tracking my activity with a FItbit zip. Good luck!0
