so weird that after I bump this 8 months after saving it originally to my topics, the same day I see an article in our little 5 page town newspaper with a black bean dessert in it!0

I used to have a nutritionist who told me to make brownies just like that... with the black beans pureed and brownie mix... the beans substitute for the egg and oil and are supposed to be alot healthier!!! She said none of her husbands friends could tell the difference..... I need to try it.0

I've tried this recipe. I wouldn't say delicious. But, I'm not one who wants to go messing with my chocolate. So, my review is that they're ok, but I'd rather have a smaller real brownie.0

I have made black bean brownies before using far fewer ingredients...don't know how they'd compare to yours, but they turned out pretty tasty.
Puree 15 oz can of black beans in sauce
Mix with one box brownie mix
Bake as directed.
They smell a bit beany when they first come out of the oven, but after they cool, you can't tell one bit. I took them to work and nobody knew they weren't normal brownies.
My neighbour made these and brought some over yesterday and they were really good! Any way I can sneak some vegetables into my son's diet, I will! lol0 -

I finally got around to making these today! You really can't tell there are beans in them - I hate beans and I like these. They are a little weird tasting but I think that is using cocoa to make them - I usually make box mixes - the box with the beans in it is my next project maybe next weekend.
The texture is a bit weird. It's not cakey for sure. It's also not quite fudgy - it's like a flakey kind of fudgy almost. Like, you'd think it would be that thick Little Debbie brownie fudgyness when you bite in but it's more like crumbly fudgy like... i can't explain it. If I make them again I might leave them in a little longer to get a little crispier.
I recommend at least trying them though!
I used oil cuz I am out of applesauce and I put nuts on top. No chips and no coffee.0 -
I figured out what the texture is like - mashed potatoes. It's moist, but the texture of somewhat dry mashed potatoes - firm but squishy and somewhat softly crumbly.0

I have one that only calls for 4 ingredients - brownie mix, black beans, water and chocolate chips. My friend made them and she said they were to die for.
Puree beans (15 oz can) and 1 cup water together until smooth. Stir in box of Betty Crocker's Low Fat Fudge Brownie Mix. Pour mixture into greased pan. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Bake in preheated oven @ 350 F for 25 mins.
Apparently only 2 points per brownies. Not sure of the calorie count, but it looks pretty low.0 -
