Artificial sugar and weight gain?

I've heard about artificial sugars causing weight gain. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this? Does it actually or is it just that it makes you want more sugary things?
Personally I am a little hesitant to increase my intake in case it hinders my weight loss.
I eat 1-2 yoplait greek yogurts (50 cal) every day that I am assuming has it in it. I also like to have a splenda in a steeped tea, a package (actually a whole box at a time ~20 cal so YOLO lol) of sugar free jello or a glass of diet pop or cranberry juice. How much can I have a day (if any) and not gain weight? I think I'd have a hard time dropping the yogurt but I try to only have that or one of the other things a day.

Artificial sweeteners absolutely do NOT make you gain weight. It has zero calories. I've lost 50 lbs drinking diet coke and using Splenda like crazy. It lets me have a sweet taste with less calories which has been very helpful. It doesn't give me sweet cravings, but satisfies them. Is it a chemical? Yes but I can live with that.

I think it's all the low fat foods giving you a hard time, not the artificial sweeteners. I've lost the weight drinking diet pepsi and sugar free Monster and eating sugar free candies all this time. Low fat foods replace fat with carbs, carbs aren't satisfying, will leave you hungry, and will make you more likely to eat more. Fat is going to keep you full for longer.

I drink an iced coffee from Dunks every morning with splenda and a little caramel in it. I'm sure the sugar in the caramel syrup isn't good for me. But it hasn't impeded my weight loss. Don't be scared of your jello, or yogurt. Just make it work for your goals! Others have provided good advice as well.
