Never shaved my head completely, but I often have a buzz cut. Makes me more aerodynamic so I can type faster on these message boards.

But seriously, I did shave my legs about 20 years ago when I was into competitive biking. Yes, it cuts down slightly on wind resistance, but for me the important thing was that it is better when you take a spill. Been in two bike crashes in races (neither my fault), and both times got my legs and other body parts scraped up pretty good. When you have road rash, it is much better if you don't have hairs getting in the way and potentially causing infection. Also seems to heal faster without all of my wookie leg hair.

When I hit the 50lb lost mark, I cut all mine off. It went from the middle of my back to the mohawk/pixie that's in my profile picture now. I've always wanted to try out really short hair, but never thought it looked good on bigger gals. (Including myself) So when I hit my first goal, this was my reward.

That and i got so tired of trying to do something with my hair after the gym. This is a shower, towel dry, pomade and go. 5 min max. lol. The only bad part is now my husband style's his into a mohawk too... we look like those couples that wear matching outfits all the time.

I kind of agree that pixie cuts look better on thinner people and I think that's part of why I cut mine off, I have full intentions to go back to a white pixie cut, I feel like Im reserving it for when I feel sexy again

I've seriously considered shaving my head. But not to start a diet. Just for kicks. I never have though, 'cause my face is super round, and if I was bald I'd look exactly like a vanilla Moon Pie.

Cheers to your strength for doing something like that!! I don't think I have the courage to do it.

I've shaved my head at the start of a football season but that was because we were doing 2 practices a day in summer heat in full pads. It was more of a buzz than a shave. I've always thought that a pixie cut can be cute on the right person (including a couple here)

Dear OP, if you do it, just remember to put sunblock on the dome when you go out. Sunburn on the scalp hurts like hell. There's plenty of ways to kickoff a new diet:

    - Donating all your junk food in the house to the local food bank.
    - A new grill
    - Buy yourself a new HRM. --> new toys are fun!

I didn't/haven't done it for a diet, but I totally see where you are coming from with it feeling like something to do.

When I was 21, I got word that a girl I had dated in high school died from a heart problem. i loved her when we dated and took her death a little hard. Particularly because - as is the case with most break ups - it didn't end well. i felt guilty, and sad, and angry and a whole array of emotions. And when I decided I needed to move past that, one of the things i did to help me transition past it was shave my head.

it was cathartic. it is almost a symbolic shedding of an old skin, and it felt like it was the right thing to do. So, again, I totally see where you are coming from .

now, i just shave my head because I'm bald :-)

Yep, I shaved my head the day I started my diet, just as I had every day for the previous 36 years.
