Why does fatty food make me feel sluggish?

So, I don't mean fatty food like burgers and fries; I mean the fats found in nuts. I don't usually eat that much fat, but the other day I had a packet of shelled sunflower seeds and was KNOCKED out. The whole rest of the day I was really sleepy, sluggish and actually felt like i was overheating... I've noticed that sometimes if I have too many nuts like almonds it makes my stomach feel hot to the touch and I almost feel like I have a fever. I don't think I have allergies but this was really weird... Is this because the nuts are hard to digest or something?

Some people do have difficulty digesting nuts and seeds due to the anti-nutrients in them called phytic acid and lectins. They are designed to resist digestion, this is a defense mechanism that plants have to deter predators from eating them. Many people find that soaking for 12-18 hours and then roasting on a low heat solves this problem as cooking destroys lectins and soaking reduces phytic acid.0

Doesn't sound like fat, it sounds like you might have an intolerance to nuts and/or seeds.
I'd recommend going to the doctors and getting this checked out.0 -

Doctors don't diagnose intolerances, only allergies and the intolerance tests that some Nutritionists use are unreliable. Allergic reactions are more severe than what the symptoms suggest but you can always get your doctor to check. Your best options are to try my suggestions above with soaking and low-heat roasting (as everyone should do anyway) or you can cut them out completely. You can also try adding some gelatin to your diet as a condition known as leaky gut has been known to contribute towards food intolerances. Gelatin helps heal the lining in the gut that may be damaged. You can read up about the condition and what else you can do to improve it if you think it would benefit you.0 -
Allergy was what I was thinking also. Kind of sounds like the reaction some people have to red wines. Histamines in that case I think. Yes, that's it. Nuts can trigger a histamine release apparently, along with other stuff. I found a simplistic explanation for you: http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-11175/everything-you-need-to-know-about-histamine-intolerance.html0
