A food scale is probably the most important thing to have. I use mine every single day and for ALL my food, except liquids I measure.

Food scale busted me out of a plateau. :drinker:

I'd use it in public if it didn't make me look like an obsessed freak doing so.

i do not use it everyday, but it's a great investment. I was surprised how much I underestimated meats and how I overestimated things like fruits and veggies.

In the UK, recipes always list dry ingredients by weight rather than volume, so everyone who cooks has a food scale (we call them 'kitchen scales' as opposed to 'bathroom scales' for people!) I lived in the USA for a while and it surprised me that they were seen as unusual. (Along with electric kettles!)

I also measure liquids on a scale; admittedly, I tend to assume that everything has the same density as water (1 ml = 1 g), but that's probably not too far off.

LOVE my food scale, keeps me honest!
digital , following the grams size serving helps me so much , portion distortion is VERY real!

    OWN THAT TURKEY

Yep, one of the best investments I've made is my scale. I was way off before, both over and under estimating depending on the food.

I just bought mine yesterday too, and used it to weigh my lunch today. I was understimating, and what I thought was 8 oz really wasn't even close to it. I've heard great things as well, and eventually will start weighing fruits, cereals, anything! I picked up a digital one and hopefully it will last a while.

I bought one when I started MFP and use it every day. I love love love it.

HEDPE70 and others that did not use a food scale when you started, I would love an update as far as how far off where you on your portion sizes, over or under!

Good call on getting a scale. It helps out a ton.

On a side note, I remember the first time i weighed a serving of peanut butter....Twas a sad day.
