Hello everyone :D Was just curious as to how many martial art practitioners are utilizing MFP. I myself have trained eight years in Wado Kai Karate and now have the privilege of training my three children :D I love what the martial arts have instilled in me, self discipline, confidence, awareness, etc.

So where my ninja and ninjettes at?! lol

Must be a real pleasure passing on your knowledge to your children. I do crane kung fu. When I finally have kids, they will learn it whether they like it or not.

awesome!!! *bows respectfully* pleased to make your acquaintances :D LOL yeah my kids are learning whether they want to or not hahahaha! washing our gi's now and as soon as they are dry it is time to train! we are working on VERY simple basic techniques (stances, punches, blocks, and kicks) and maybe we will do a few combos :D I was Sempi when I was training as a brown belt so I have some experience training the lower ranks to brown level, but it has been a while and this is all new for me! :D

It's great you're handing it down to your children. Karate has done wonders for my boys in many ways (self esteem, motor skills, self-discipline). My oldest just earned his 6th kyu, blue belt (his dojo uses a 12 kyu belt system) Friday evening. My kids love it, but if they lost interest, I wouldn't force them to stay in.

i sent my kids to thai boxing clubs, they lost interest i wouldn't force them because they were hitting rebellious teens and i would rather their hearts were in it.

Perhaps reconsider the "Whether they like it or not approach."

I started with Shalon Kempo when I was five years old.
I stopped when I joined the Army.
I still work out but, I am not attending classes any more. My instructor passed away and I kind of decided to pick up where he left off.
  • Boxing and bjj here. Really want to get into judo, but I cannot find a school.

that is awesome :D my son did Kenpo for a while at his school once a week. But then his teacher decided to kick him out ( not the Sensei his teacher because he did not finish his work packet :( ) So I decided, I have a wealth of knowledge, I will train them at home! So here we are! They are picking up the basic punches, blocks, kicks quite well! we will move into kata in the near future, and have already started learning basic lapel grabs and wrist grab self defense techniques. I am proud of my babies and want to keep them interested. So I try to make the cardio fun ( bear walk, crab walk, duck walk, goofy foot jumping jacks, races, wheel barrel races etc).

I know Mexican Judo! Judo no if I got a knife.... Judo no If I got a gun... ( JK lol I actually did learn a little grappling and judo, under Hanshisan.) He always taught us that almost all of street fights end up on the ground so it is important to know how to defend yourself on the ground. we would do back to back ground sparing and it was so fun! I miss actually training in a class, I wish I wasn't so broke! lol

I have practiced since 1974. Shorin-Ryu, Judo, TKD and a few other styles. Taught TKD from about 1980 to 1990. I no longer teach, but I have built a dojo in my home.

HEMA fighter here - historic European martial arts. Used to do mainly broadsword and viking-rules wrestling, now it's Renaissance fencing and I'm training my horse for jousting. Came 4th at the fencing tournament last weekend - only out of 10, but I was the only woman and the three guys who beat me are all at least two ranks above me... Had to give up longsword because my shoulder wouldn't take it.
