weight gain after starting boot camp

Hi guys. I have been using fitness pal for about a month. Carefully watching what I eat and I can definatly see Ive been over eating for a long time. Im a lap band patient. Ive had a lap band since 2005 but my esophagus is so distended that my lap band had no fill. Ive gained 15 pounds this year. I started boot camp a month ago. Ive only been able to go twice a week because I am so sore the following day I havent gone. so twice a week is at least so heavy duty exercise. This is my dilema. I have gained 5 pounds in the month I have been going! Im so discouraged I just dont want to go anymore. Whats up with this? The women say stick to it its normal. You will see a drop it you just stick with it. I want to lose this 15-20 pounds the natural way. I dont want the lap band anymore. Any one have answers? thanks. Diane

I am In a boot camp also and I have gained weight too but losing in inches. You are also gaining muscle don't worry you are progressing.

Stop counting the scale and use a measuring tape. Muscle weighs less then fat per volume, if you are building muscle it is possible you could gain weight but not from fat (which is a GOOD thing). Plus there are a million factors that define what you weigh, water retention, bloating, clothing changes on different days, that time of the month, etc. Don't obsess over the scale, obsess over how good food/exercise makes you feel about yourself.
  • Instead of aiming for appearance and numbers (weight). Start focusing on ability and improvement of speed and strength. Focus on being able to go to boot camp 3 times a week instead of twice, then 4 and so on.

Let me ask this. My legs are so sore, hip flexors and hamstrings that it is hard to walk. Should I go to boot cp or take off. I want to go and hopefully work out the stiffness but I don't want to hurt myself. I'm 51 and not very flexible. I'm afraid to always be stuck at 2 days a week
