I have been thinking about doing P90X, but I read a chin up bar is needed. Has anyone done this program without using a chin up bar? I really have nowhere to put one up in my house.
Also what do you all think of this program?

I do P90X3 and I don't do the pull ups. There are modifications in the program that you can use a stretch band to pull down instead of doing pull ups. That is what I do. You just need something up high to attach the stretch bands to or something to loop over. I use my stair rails.

hmmm I don't even have stair rails I could loop anything over to use. Dang cause I was really thinking of doing this program. Any other suggestions?

You can install within door frame, and then take it down. They are made to be temporary.

Great program. I hate bands have stretched a few and they have snapped.

As has been said, you can use bands with P90X, and they have the instructions for that in the video.

You can also buy a door frame pull up bar. I think i paid less than $25 for mine.

    Enjoy your results:

Is there any excersizes I can do without using the bar when bar excersizes are needed?

I do them with a door hook and resistance bands. I finished p90x and am nearly finished with p90x3 :)

Resistance bands are the answer if your looking to avoid the pull up bar. I've did several rounds with the bands before buying a pull up bar. Make sure the Resistance bands you buy come with an anchor. Then it's as simple as closing a door with the anchor
on the other side !! I used my front door.
If you choose to do P90x 1 ,2, or 3, bands or pull up bar are part of the program. Bands are the sub for the Bar. Good Luck !!
  • I also don't have a pull up bar or bands. I don't have anywhere to even consider a pull up bar or nowhere to hang bands. I just use heavier hand weights when they use the bar. I know it is not the same but I figure it is better than nothing and it still kicks my butt.
  • I completed the program last year. You can get a door strap, for the resistance band, to replace the chin up bar. Mine came with the bands I bought. Open a door.......place the ball end of the strap to the outside........close the door.........thread your band through the loop on the strap. Easy peasy.

Have you consider trying a program that doesn't require equipment, like Insanity, T25 or any of the other beachbody programs?

    This is little late, but:

I have one of those all -in one gym machines that has the lat pulldown....which is better OR I purchased the Weider 200 Power Tower. Its a free standing Pull Up tower with the "roman chair" section on the other side (if you want to do those moves). You need at least 8 foot ceilings for that tower.
