Hello! I am really trying to lose some weight, but i have a serious boyfriend and have been considering getting on the pill. I'm worried that this might hinder my ability to lose weight and keep it off. Any advice or experiences? :blushing:

I did gain weight around the same time I started the pill, but I don't know if one really has to do with the other - I like to think so, but it's probably more likely due to the extra eating/drinking/celebrating/etc that I did with a partner rather than the very strict diet I was on when I was single. That's the biggest tip for not gaining weight - try not to fall into your partner's eating patterns, because guys can usually eat a lot more than us without gaining the weight! It becomes so easy to eat out more often, order pizza, go out for ice creams, and on and on0

Technology has improved to the point that usually the MOST you'd gain is 5 lbs. Thats what my gyno told me at least. I've been on the pill for like a year, and not only did i NOT gain, but i've been able to lose just fine.
The pill has been great for me. However, my libido is dead because of it...
anyway, as far as weight loss goes, the pill shouldnt make a huge difference.
Thats my two cents0 -
It actually is a myth that birth control causes weight gain. I'm on the pill, and I have not gained weight, nor do I have any problem losing weight.
The pill may cause a small amount of fluid retention, but not significant enough for you to gain weight.
This myth is from when birth control was first released because the pill had more hormones than women actually needed to prevent pregnancy, so it did cause weight gain at the time. But now, the hormone levels in birth control are where they should be and gaining weight shouldn't be a problem.0 -
I'm on birth control right now and I've had no problems losing weight and I sure haven't gained weight.0

I have been on it and have been on about 10 different ones and never gained a pound of weight. There is just the probability of fluid retention which can be taken care of!0
