Weight gain since I started Stronglifts

I have been doing stronglifts for a week now while eating at a calory deficit (TDEE-15%).
Why have I gained 2-3lbs? Is it because of water retention? Also how long will it last?

When I started strength training I gained 2kgs, and they stayed on for about 6 weeks.
Track your measurements, even though the scale went up for me inches were coming off so I knew I was in a proper deficit

I was up 2-3 lbs for the first month or so. It's water retention for muscle repair.0

I hope it is just the water retention and it goes away. I will keep an eye on my measurements

Yeah, I've been wondering this myself. I am on my 4th week now of the Body by You (You Are Your Own Gym for women) bodyweight strength training program, and my weight has been all over the place without any other changes to what I've been doing deficit, cardio exercise etc.
I keep waiting for it to level out and drop off and start losing again but it hasn't yet. So I'm weighing everything on my food scale to make sure my deficit is spot on and just trying to stay positive as I plug along. But it is discouraging as I felt like I was doing better before I started the strength training with losing weight. Maybe I should have waited, but I wanted to really do body recomp as I went on these last 20 pounds. Any advice also appreciated.0 -

As someone who did wait until goal weight to weight train, my advice is to keep doing what you're going. A month to six weeks is pretty standard-- trust the process. It's much much harder to recomp once you have lost the muscle that you had. Much easier to just maintain your muscle while you lose weight.0 -
there is no good reason to wait to start weight training.
Also- if you are a newb/extremely over weight- for the first 6 months you will see some actual muscle gains in strength AND size- newb gains.
take advantage of it- lift to your hearts content- you'll never be able to put on muscle so easily.
So after a few months you'll have maxed out your gains- the trend will reverse and you'll start losing.0 -

Thanks, I am so glad you said this. I want to make the most of my newbie gains0
