Ok, so my house is already filled with temptations. I love all this food. I am trying to be good and avoid it all but I want to eat everything.
I did buy some hummus that I love to help with the choices, and also I know shrimp is a safe choice for me. I just want to know I am not alone wit this desire to eat EVERYTHING right now.

Oh, trust me -- you are not alone! And I'm baking today, so I'm going to have a rough afternoon. Lots of Extra Dessert gum!

I think we all want to eat this stuff. But I also don't think you should deny yourself either. Enjoy this time of year, just don't go crazy. A couple cookies, a slice of pie, whatever, isn't going to ruin it.

Don't torture yourself. Remember this is about being healthy and living in the real world. In the real world there are tasty goodies out there. And it's not wrong to want or have one now and again.

You are definatly not alone with the temptations! My work took us out yesterday to the Cheesecake Factory. It was hard, but I managed to order something off their weight management menu and was the only person not to order cheesecake, although the peanut butter cup one was calling my name. I fought temptation by getting their goblet of strawberries for dessert. It was good and I didn't really even miss the cheesecake.

Last night we had some neighbors over....I'm thinking innocently "I'll make dinner, bake, good times!" NO! NO NO NO! It was AWFUL! Ha ha! Yes dinner was awesome, everything I baked was good...we had a great evening together.

But everyone brought plates of cookies, fudge, concoctions I only dreamed existed. AND LEFT THEM AT MY HOUSE!

    WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????
  • your definately not alone in that. I had christmas dinner with my family a couple days ago, and my mom, being her usual sweet self, sent me home with a large tupperware container full of cookies, and baked goods. the temptation was sooooo bad, I gave them all to my neighbours, and my daughter.
  • OMG Guys! I am glad I am not alone.
I can't help it. I baked on Sunday and EVERYDAY I am eating like 3 cookies. I know this is the real world etc, but my scale (in this real world) is flying high)
Had a good work out yesterday and hoping to get one in tomorrow and Friday before the true eating begins.

I could use a few beers who ever suggested happy hour!
LOL! I am trying to avoid the wine on Christmas Eve and Day to cut out unnecessary calories (save it for new years)
    Thanks GUYS!

Can you have your husband hide the foods you're trying to avoid? Once I know they're hidden, I forget about them (not to mention I don't have to see them every time I open a cupboard or the fridge).

When we had Girl Scout cookies in the house, I had him hide them so that I wouldn't be tempted to keep grazing until the boxes were empty.

For me, hiding items is the next best thing to not having them in the house at all.

No you are not allone - and since this is ' once a year " event- maybe you should try to enjoy it a little more relaxed- i think the more you say " no no no " .. more tempting it is- why don't you see what you " can " fit into your kcls budget ?
Or maybe try to ony " maintain " the weight for the rest of the holidays- and not try losing ? And after that you can hit full speed again ..

    just my opinion :)

    Good luck either way..

Oh .. i just remembered my ww instructor- from few years ago- she said.. everytime she made a commitment " now i will be 100% and i will not eat this or that " someone would show up at her house with a dozen of doughnuts..
So she said- this is my exprc- if you have the strength to take the whole box and toss it in the trash can- trust me that is just an " alternative storage " - if you know " it's there " you will go and get it out .. in order to really " dispose " it - you have to empty that box in that trash so you can't take them out anymore .. :))
I thought it was so funny when she called the - outside big garbage bin an alternative storage :))

You're definately not alone! I had a horrible day yesterday because I ate everything in sight, went way over my calorie budget, and didn't get to the gym because I had a dental issue. I felt fat and frumpy, but satisfied that I gave into the cravings at last!!!! I'm trying not to be too down about the whole thing, but I know these next few days will be difficult because we'll be out of town guests and will have to eat what our hosts provide. Know.. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!:-P

  • You are SO not alone!! I agree with the "don't deprive yourself" attitude. I've had a few extra things and plan to indulge in my husband's awesome prime rib roast on Christmas. The best I've been able to do is NO (no not even one, not even ONE BITE) cookies, treats or snacks at work... everything that everyone brings in! I log and pack my breakfast, lunch and snacks, and that's all I eat all day!! Well, so far... today and tomorrow to go!! Thanks to everyone on here my willpower has won so far.

You are not alone! I am not able to completely abstain from all the treats in my house, but I am trying not to exceed my calories for the day when I do indulge but that is hard!

    Well said, TropicalKitty!

I've been trying to find that balance between having a taste and completely going overboard. My goal was to maintain through the holidays. So far, I'm doing o.k., even though I've indulged in treats.
