It varies from person to person, and each person varies from day to day.

So don't gauge your progress by the scale alone. Take photos & measurements, too. Read this: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants

Well, night after eating and drinking I weight 141.4 lbs. This morning when I woke UPI weighed 139 lbs. That is about the case everyday. On weekends, it is pretty normal for there to be a differernce of up to 5 pounds.

It can be quite a bit! This is assuming you don't use the bathroom, but just think about the weight of the stuff you put into your body every day. If you're getting that 8 cups of water you need a day, that's 4 pounds of water. If you're weighing your food, you'll see how much of that goes in too.

I see big fluctuations during the day depending on what I eat/drink and what I'm wearing. Usually about 5 lbs up, sometimes more or less. I always weigh in the morning sans clothing and sometimes I'll pop on the scale during the day (it's in the kitchen so why not) just out of curiosity.

Don't measure this, that seems a bit obsessive, it's about the weight of the stuff you eat and drink.
Your weight stays a bit higher until you've had a poop or a pee, but you also sweat it out, or simply burn the calories.
That's why you always weigh in the morning, to reduce these fluctuations

I did lose 1,5 pounds by taking a poop once :p
  • I always seem to weigh less in the morning? Not sure why, but that's when I consistently weigh myself, it makes me feel better. ;-)

I typically weigh the least in the late afternoon, before dinner. I don't know why, I just have to be different. My weight can vary 4-5 lbs some days. This is why picking a consistent time to weigh is important.

I usually fluctuate 1-2 pounds, weighing the lowest first thing in the morning .

    5 or more pounds usually.
I like doing tests, so I didn't use the bathroom in either way at night like I usually do, got up the next morning and weighed myself, then went to the bathroom and I was 6 pounds lighter. It's pretty interesting but if you do weigh during the day for fun like I do, just know that it's not your real weight.

well, that would depend on how much the food and drink I consumed weighed on any given day as well as how much waste I had in my system, etc....

why are you even remotely concerned with this?

Of course you do! You lose quite some water during your sleep: respiration and transpiration.
The average person loses about 1.2L of urine and about 1L through perspiration.

I've seen variations as high as 3.5kg (~8 lbs) between my morning weight and random times throughout the day. That's not including clothes weight, either. So, it can be quite a lot.

I weigh myself every morning, after using the bathroom, and that's more consistent. It still swings a lot up and down, but not by huge amounts. The main thing is to remember that a single weight on the scale doesn't mean anything in particular. You need several weights, over a period of time, to get an idea of what is happening with your weight. Just record it, and move on. Weeks later, compare current weights with the weights from before... and you'll find they're all lower (assuming you lost weight)
