huffington post article, theres a family that went 1 year(book forthcoming) no sugar, corn syrup or sweeteners

kind of looking forward to hearing more about it , there is so much sugar in literally everything, she does mention they lost no weight, but looks like from the video they were within normal anyhow...

but what do you think ?

I know how i feel about any type of "eliminate this food" diet .... and then there was the "sugar busters" diets a few years back....

    They ate dessert once a month and I bet they ate fruit fairly often. So really they just reduced sugar intake.

    I love the bait-and-switch of "no sugar" and "added sugar". There's a big difference because I'd bet that this family didn't go a year without eating fruits and vegetables.

    I don't believe in eliminating any food for weight loss, but if the family felt they were helping each other get healthier - then okay. Different things work for different people.
    Some people trying that elimination thing would feel restricted might be more prone to binge later.
    Others would feel it helps them, because when they're not eating sugar, the cravings for it diminish.
    We know that the simple way to lose weight is to eat less and move more, to have a calorie deficit.
    As far as how much fat, carbs, or protein they're consuming... or how many sugar grams, is a personal preference. I don't see it as a big deal if they choose a certain type of diet because it makes them feel more energized and healthy.

    No. Your body runs on sugar. Moderation yes, eliminating sugar entirely, no. To totally eliminate sugar would mean no chocolate!!

    Exactly, plus:
    Each family member was allowed one regular exception that contained a small amount of sugar and once a month the family would have an agreed-upon dessert.

    Someone should have told mommy that most good wineries don't use added sugar and therefore could have enjoyed wine more often....

    i guess that part that kind of peeved me , was in the article they show the shopping trip , but if you follow the vimeo other postings it shos her making a "sugar free" coconut cake with what looks like a CUP of Dextrose...

    guess what honey... DEXTROSE is a SUGAR!! , not cane sugar and not High Fructose corn sugar, to be sure , but it is sugar;;;
